"Faroe Islands, where's that?" - Leon - 2014-01-08 20:43

So, you asked where the Faroe Islands are and were sent here from the server.

This is where they're located (white arrow). East of Iceland, west of Norway and north of the United Kingdom, the Faroe Islands, a tiny archipelago consisting of 18 islands, where 17 are inhabited. The population is 50.000 people. Everything is expensive and you wouldn't believe the storms we get.

That blob on the map is Leon, not the Island.

Don't forget its actually somewhat smaller than printed on the map due to the curved surface of the earth.

In Faroese it's "Føroyar", but that won't help, lol.

No, it's part of the Danish kingdom. We were given, yes, given, to Denmark in 1814.

Actually the native language is Faroese. Danish and English are mandatory in school. During the later years, we can select German and some others that I can't remember.

It's actually a group of 18 islands, where 17 are populated.

This. The size is pathetic.

If I remember correctly, we were part of Norway, which until 1814 was part of the Danish kingdom. When Norway split, they let Denmark keep us.

Danes b like "all your base are belong to us" W00t

Where do you get most of your products then? From Denmark or UK or somewhere else entirely? I doubt you produce all your stuff on the island anyway?

They did grant USA the right to use us as part of their missile defense system, if I remember correctly.

Fish and fish related products account for 94% of our export and approximately 30% of the imported goods come from Denmark.

Like I said, the language is Faroese. It's nothing like Danish Tongue

I once heard their national football team exist of regular guys, bakers, bus drivers, teachers etc. Maybe just a rumour, maybe not. Keeping in mind the entire population is about the half of the city I live in Wink
