The Stretching of Skins - KaraK - 2011-12-10 17:30 This was on the old TC Forum, thought I'd link to it again. »LFSForum Link« When making a skin, images will probably be stretched on the in-game car model. Here is an Example of the problem (provided by GAVD999) http://www.lfsforum.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=103592&d=1270665257 JazzOn Wrote:Heya, Click for image: FBM - F08 - FOX - BF1 FXR - FXO FZR - FZ5 LX4 - LX6 XRR - XRT/XRG XFR - XFG UFR/UF1 RB4 RAC VWS RE: The Stretching of Skins - Pete - 2011-12-10 17:58 Yup, this is one of the most fundamental parts of making a good skin. Bare this in mind if you're a beginner. I recommend making a note / downloading the images at the BOTTOM of the OP. RE: The Stretching of Skins - KaraK - 2011-12-10 18:35 Links to images added. RE: The Stretching of Skins - Jappe - 2011-12-10 18:36 i dont get it? RE: The Stretching of Skins - Pipa - 2011-12-10 18:40 Good repost (2011-12-10 18:36)Jappe Wrote: i dont get it? Take a look at the examples in the lfsforum thread. To make it simple: If you want a perfect square on the side of the fxr you need to compress the width by 65% on the skin. Otherwise you have the perfect square on the skin, but inside lfs it looks streched. Example: Take a look at the glow fbm skin. The carlsberg bottle on the back looks good on the skin, but inside lfs it is streched. A mistake i noticed today RE: The Stretching of Skins - rash - 2011-12-10 20:25 When I make a skin, I use the MS templates, but instead of leaving them as-is, I make them 2048x2560 pixels. No more stretch-issues, just remember to scale them back to 2048x2048 when you save RE: The Stretching of Skins - Pipa - 2011-12-10 20:29 (2011-12-10 20:25)rash Wrote: I make them 2048x2560 pixels. That would only work if the all the body parts have the same compressing values. This is far more accurate. RE: The Stretching of Skins - rash - 2011-12-10 20:33 hmm...I've never ended up having stretched skins, though. And I've done upwards of 60 skins with this method. But I suppose to each his own, right? RE: The Stretching of Skins - Tommer - 2011-12-10 20:39 I genuinely did not know this, never noticed a problem with my skins though, largely because I don't use perfect squares but scale them so there is a specific number of them instead RE: The Stretching of Skins - Audiojack - 2011-12-10 21:35 Yah, I just resize the image in photoshop to 4096x5120. (Or 2048x2560 or 1024x1280 etc.) If some parts are still stretched then I just transform the individual parts. |
