New PC - Saphira - 2012-01-26 20:23 Hi Guys Well after much long thought ive decided to get rid of the Laptop and get a PC. Now ive been told that Alienware is very good but i no nothing about PC's and wat is best to buy my budget is around £800 So some help would be nice guys on wat to buy RE: New PC - Nick - 2012-01-26 20:37 Alienware are (were) a premium brand like Apple - You pay more than it's worth for the name. I don't know the best place to get a good PC, but you could always try and build your own, thats usually the best value for money and it's usually tailored to your needs. RE: New PC - Crille - 2012-01-26 20:43 Your fellow englishsmen probably know a good store/onlinestore to buy parts from. Then you just pick the parts at the store and have them build it and then send it to you. RE: New PC - Stevo - 2012-01-26 20:44 Isn't Tom really good with PC's? Alienware is good, but sometimes you can get a better system for the same price, as you are also paying for the name. Have a look at http://www.overclockers.co.uk RE: New PC - Saphira - 2012-01-26 20:48 Yay Tom built his own PC and has said he would help out, but always asking for ppl opinions advice is good rather then listening to just one person Saphira RE: New PC - Ash - 2012-01-26 23:44 Got mine from Overclockers, really good! Got a great gaming system for just short of £600, i get about 120fps on a bad day (with full AA & AF) RE: New PC - Street - 2012-01-26 23:53 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=43&catid=1951 Look in there, you can configure your own, if you see something that sounds good and is within your price range, then post it in here for evaluation Just to give you some idea of what you can get, mine was just over £700, 8GB Ram, decent processor and good graphics card (runs BF3 at High settings, LFS at totally full), decent cooler, case, PSU. For another £100 you could have a really good processor/GFX card/amount of ram, or slight improvements all around. RE: New PC - FR4NOx - 2012-01-27 03:16 You could have your son do all of the work for you I bet (choosing hardware, etc). What do you plan on doing on the computer? That's always the best place to start. RE: New PC - Saphira - 2012-01-27 08:34 The Plan with getting a home-based PC is for ultimate gaming LOL. Want to get a decent PC, Tom is going to help me with building one. Thanks for the links guys have had a look on website and LoLoLoLoL Cost of PC i would like ermm £1560 hahahhaha. Just a tad over the budget but can now stretch to about £900/£1000, so tom is going to have a look at the sight and we going to build one from there Thanks for help guys as i REALLY dont have a clue. I would of built one the couldnt even run Pacman Hahahaha RE: New PC - Nitros - 2012-01-27 21:17 This may help you. Sorry for low res. Its from the iPad. Buy PC Gamer UK! Really useful information. This is a tad old, so you may be better looking at a more up to date issue. RE: New PC - Saphira - 2012-01-27 22:22 ooo Nice..cant wait to get rid of lappy and have a nice PC for once RE: New PC - Nick - 2012-01-28 01:22 If you were willing to sell the lappy then pay for a proper PC, you could use the £££ from selling the lappy for an even better PC RE: New PC - Crille - 2012-01-28 04:06 (2012-01-28 01:22)Nick Wrote: If you were willing to sell the lappy then pay for a proper PC, you could use the £££ from selling the lappy for an even better PC Well unless Saffeh is gonna start playing BF3 or similar I think she would get on good with a computer for around £800 What games are you gonna play Saffeh? RE: New PC - KaraK - 2012-01-28 08:43 Ty for the pics Nitros, helps me out as well. Looking for an upgrade RE: New PC - Saphira - 2012-01-28 09:34 Only LFS ofc LoL.. me play BF3 or MW3 i would get killed instantly lawl I'm keeping the Lappy for work as i don't want to download LFS on the PC in my office, gosh i would never get any work done then. And as i said up there Ive upped the budget to around £900-£1000 so i should get a pretty decent PC for that. RE: New PC - Nitros - 2012-01-28 13:17 If your only playing LFS on it, even spending £500 may be considered overkill. Why do you want to spend so much? Unless you do rendering, or heavy photoshop or something, you won't notice the difference.. Just seems like spending money for the sake of spending money. RE: New PC - Street - 2012-01-28 13:32 Actually, yeah, if you are going just for LFS, then you don't really need huge specs. I only went higher and higher because I knew that I'd want it for bigger stuff (Like BF3). But if LFS is the only remotely graphical game you play, then you don't need to spend anywhere near 800 RE: New PC - Saphira - 2012-01-28 13:35 Forgot to mention i also am a photographer so i will be putting my pictures on there from my camera. Below is where the best ones Go http://www.eyefetch.com/profile-images.aspx?user=clickerhappy And can add anything upto around 8000 to 10,000 pictures a yr on it Plus ive never had a really good PC and would really like one RE: New PC - Tom - 2012-01-28 13:43 When im back next saturday we will build the perfect pc with plenty of grunt and the power to play all games and especially LFS RE: New PC - KaraK - 2012-01-28 13:48 Then you should spend money on your HDD. Which is where all your programs etc are stored. Maybe spend your money on the casing, so that it looks cool |
