Ambulance Runs - Josh - 2012-03-05 21:34

A couple of vids from work today. We were 3rd Manning so we had 3 on board and I got the short straw and got the back seat.

Did you genuinely have time to draw straws? Just curious.

They have more than enough time between / before runs to draw straws Tongue
Nice vids, Josh, makes me jealous.

Very nice vids, really interesting Wink

I was suprised how little the siren was used though, but then it must do your head in. World's quietest engine too Tongue But then I didn't see many of the muppet drivers a lot of drivers complain about (out of interest, ever read 'Blood, Sweat and a Cup of Tea'?).

I thought you were with a private ambulance service though, didn't think you responded to 999 calls...

In my opinion this is so intresting!

Keep the vids comming if that's allowed!

You'd be surprised, NHS wise, we have very little time between most calls - unless on a break or if it's a weird day.

My main job is with a private service, we do all sorts but mainly event cover (not that we don't do 999 runs). This was with an East of England van - technically I was sent out as a Community Responder, however as I am also Tech I was just doing my normal job from a different seat.

What kind of education you have then? Needs alot years in school? Tongue

RE: Ambulance Runs - Josh - 2012-03-06 19:26

As a CFR I was trained over 2 days and assessed afterwards. As a Tech I was trained over a 12 month period and still have on-going training, we are always learning new skills and applying them to the job we do.
