It would be interesting if rental cars were identified throughout their lifetime like normal cars, including their condition and all of its renters. These could show up on your profile as a collapsible list of rented cars you have rented before.

And right before you leave the pits with a rental car, Insim would look through a database of all rental cars available for that car model, and then choose a random one.

Nice idea, but surely there are more important things to code before.
But why no.

Why though?

Make sure you can afford service fees if you get unlucky.

Yes lol that would be part of it. Poor people shouldn't be renting cars that much anyway.

Indeed. What are the actual benefits of this?
This doesn't sound like an easy job, and it doesn't sound necessary either.

No, it's not absolutely necessary but it would be realistic and interesting. It would use the exact same system as the normal cars do, with the same VIN system. If you were to type in the VINS in order (http://insim.city-driving.co.uk/carinfo.php?vin=AAAAA, http://insim.city-driving.co.uk/carinfo.php?vin=AAAAB, etc) some cars would be rentals and others would be normal cars. It would simply say "Renters" on the car details page instead of "Owners"

I wonder how many people actually rent cars and how long? That info makes the whole idea reasonable or not.

Maybe you could have other players be able to rent their cars for a bit of income instead?

EG (Have a rental XFG be more expensive, though one from a player be cheaper, gives an incentive)

I reckon its a fun idea for people who keep cars as they want them, but dont want to sell them, though want some income

Also have a condition cap of say 10-20% so players can still have time with their cars.

That's actually a way better idea than the one TS offered.

We can already privately rent our cars to trusted friends (although unofficially). They just send us the money and the renter and the owner agrees on a time period they can keep it. Then at the end of the time period they give it back.

As you can see, I did this a while ago with blueshift1980 and the car ABMXI:
