Any other members ever mess with or has a model railroad layout? I have easily several thousand in trains and just recently started messing with them again. Right now the list is long and almost anything is for sale haha. Trains are fun to buy and sell, plus something you don't need or want someone else does! Well enough talk here's some pics:
The layout is at a local hobby shop

Just for the heck of it, do you do something like this to?

RE: Model railroading - McGherkin - 2012-04-15 15:26

I used to mess with a lot of model railways, although eventually I didn't have the room or time for it and no space for a permanant layout so sold the whole lot for a tidy sum. Still have an interest though, subscribed to Intercity82 on youtube, lots of train reviews and hints and tips, makes me wish I still had everything Wink

Johan, this stuff's too expensive to crash Wink

Maybe 5 years ago or so I used to indulge in Hornby trainsets.. and even still have my Microsoft Train Simulator and Trainz games which I used to play Tongue B

Nowadays the only real trains I like are big majestic steam trains, simply because they are impressive to look at, with all the iron, pistons, bells and whistles, but they are pretty much rare and near extinction..

Steamers are incredible I grew up only a few miles from a scenic steam line. Rode that thing so many time haha. N scale steam though still isn't very efficient. The motors are finally being designed to be hidden so cabs can be designed(to me no big deal). They also haves my more parts than diesels so repair can be problematic as I have discovered. Kato doesn't sell JNR(Japanese National Railway) steam parts, but they sell all the American stuff.

The two steamers I have are Katos and need minor parts like traction tires, a motor and motor brackets. Other than that I practically stole them I got em so cheap lol.
