Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Zipppy - 2012-04-25 04:15 Is this outrageous? http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002601538 RE: Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Roba - 2012-04-25 04:37 That is unbeliavable amount of crap! Seriously FIVE years in jail for that!? That's just unbeliavable! The one who should've got anything is the damn guy who punched him in the face in that case! He really has a hard life .. Mmmh, well if I believed this story to be true, then yes, unlucky. Sounds a bit rehearsed tbh. RE: Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Stephen - 2012-04-25 07:57 If they prove he's a terrorist (which seems highly unlikely) then he should get a minimum 5 years, but I assume that America is a guilty until proven innocent kind of place. Also since anyone could use the terrorism card on nearly anyting and it will be considered a serious offence, out of fear that someone will cause harm. RE: Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Jedi - 2012-04-25 08:14 This has been in norwegian news alot now, so i assume its true. Shows the american justice system i believe. RE: Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Tommer - 2012-04-25 09:17 I'm sincerely doubting he's a terrorist, but news articles don't always get the full picture so you never really know. With that said I'm not one to trust the American justice system RE: Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Jedi - 2012-04-25 09:23 Here's a few norwegian articles about it, use google translate for it: http://www.vg.no/nyheter/utenriks/artikkel.php?artid=10073434 http://www.vg.no/nyheter/utenriks/artikkel.php?artid=10073420 http://www.vg.no/nyheter/utenriks/artikkel.php?artid=10073417 Agreeing with the norwegian consul in last one, calling it a shame for the US. RE: Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Blade3562 - 2012-04-25 15:05 It's a sad thing, I'm a full patriotic American but our judicial system is a joke. We are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty but it is clearly guilt until proven innocent. Especially when driving. I experienced this myself and talked to the prosecutor he said we only have to prove you are going 1mph over. And they will believe a lying police officer over an outstanding citizen. RE: Norwegian student risks 35 years in jail in the US - made a wrong turn - Malibu - 2012-04-25 15:14 I think that's in most countries, here aswell. In a one on one argument, the cop is always right, so you really need a witness to win from a cop. A shitstain in US law imo... |
