Well, "free" is mentioned often though, but actually its shareware. One of the big islands is for free, and two airplanes. The interesting things can be bought in-game, but cost inacceptably much.

I expected more of a simulator to be honest. And on top of that is the way they offer the game is just terrible.

Yeh thats quite annoying. To play online, you need to "buy" the game via that MS Live website. There is no price though, but its a required step to link a serial with your account.
