Line of Duty - Series 5
Tonight on BBC One at 9pm
Line of Duty has been around for quite a few years now, but they are airing a new series (five) tonight. Who else is watching?
In case anyone hasn't seen it before, Line of Duty is a police investigation-type show which focuses on anti-corruption of police officers.
This series, however, they are focusing on a gang (aka Balaclava Men) which was revealed at the end of series 4. This consists of a network of criminals and corrupt police offers.
Give it a watch tonight and see what you think. Although it helps to see the past series, it's not really necessary
EDIT: >Trailer<
Important
Spoilers may be posted in this thread, but they should be in spoiler tags (including past series), e.g:
Code:
[spoiler]
Martin Compston is actually Scottish!
[/spoiler]
Although not a rule, this prevents ruining episodes for people who may not have watched it yet

Great show.
I'm probably gonna wait until all the eps of the series are out so I can binge it.

Series 5?! Get in. Absolutely loved this show, its indepth but also quite a good watch.
For anyone wondering (who isn't in the UK) series 1-4 is on Netflix, due to the nature of the show you really do have you start at series 1 just due to the overarching narratives, otherwise in later series you might miss big drops that are majorly important to the whole narrative.
Due to each series linking in its well worth a watch of all, even if its a time investment. Its worth it.

Didn't expect Maneet to die, let alone so brutally.
RE: Line of Duty - Huski - 2019-04-02 12:11
@BP
Spoiler Alert: This contains quite a few spoilers, its meant really for those who've watched Series 1-4 so far, or have good grasp of it. Do not read if you are wanting to watch LOD.
I did, Maneet was corrupt in AC-12 at much the same time if not later than Dot Cotton, she supplied information to ACC Hilton and possibly a few others, had connections to bent police officers and kept trying to pin it on others, she got Jamie kicked out of AC-12 by using his login info under false pretences who later turned out to be corrupt as well.
(As well, if you pay CLOSE attention, she's killed in the same place as the Social Worker from Series 3 and also ACC Hilton at the end of Series 4)
Having links to the gangs were much the downfall of many in LOD, Hilton, Denton, Gates are just the biggest ones. I think the only one who wasn't connected to the overarching Gangs was Danny Waldron, at least not in S3 that we were subjected to.
In S4 Roz Huntley was slightly connected, however I couldn't desern any major things

Huski/anyone else, who do you reckon H is? Hargreaves?
RE: Line of Duty - Kyle - 2019-04-02 15:22
Hargreaves is a bit of a dodgy character in my mind. He always seems to be so forceful on investigations (e.g Nick Huntley) which may force them to give themselves in even if they're innocent—similar to what Cotton did?
Doubtful, but maybe.
RE: Line of Duty - Huski - 2019-04-02 15:48
Well, its a hard question. H could mean a few things and possibly even be put onto a different track, Hargreaves would be a good guess IMO as he does order MVC to block access to AC-12 (EG: Nick Huntley Interview in Series 4)
However we cant throw aside that Ted could be H, while unlikely its a possibility we cannot throw out, as AC-12 has had a lot of corruption shown within each series, Cotton, Jamie (Partial), Maneet and even Arnott to an extent, with the handling of Denton's case and even little discrepancies, while he isn't corrupt the disciplinary record could be played on later on.
H could even mean a codename, like The Caddy, It could be someone involved in WP schemes.
Series 5 is still young, only one episode, right now I'd want more episodes before I decide.
Note on series 5: What's the opinions of Lise? She's not the UCO, the Ringleader is, this surprised me fully, as he was somewhat orchestrating the murders, trap and drug deals, even the hijacking it looked as if it was his planning, why would a UCO do that? Powell said she doesn't keep contact, could the UCO end up being corrupt himself, as he has those links, is deeply embedded and also able to kill 3 AFOs, its a possibility.
RE: Line of Duty - Kyle - 2019-04-02 15:55
I also found that "months without contact" part very suspicious. Maybe he does turn out to be 'H' after all...
I guess we'll see soon.
RE: Line of Duty - Kyle - 2019-04-05 22:06
I just remembered...before Hastings went in the hotel, he made a phone call to someone but they didn't pick up. The phone was going off in that mixed race woman's car (names gone out me head)—what the hell was Hastings doing ringing her?
RE: Line of Duty - Huski - 2019-04-06 16:47
If it was Series 4 then Rosanne Huntey. However I'm not quite sure what Series/Ep you're on about. I'm still doubtful that Hastings would be H, as its just not really viable, at least with views, the fact he's been the cause of death both directly and indirectly of Balaclava Men but also Dot Cotton (Kate).
With anything (and re-watching series 1, 2 and part of 3) my mind goes to Hargreaves, he took Jamie, who was corrupt soon after. Something fishy
RE: Line of Duty - Kyle - 2019-04-06 18:51
I'm on about S5E1.
Your points are valid though and I do still think Hargreaves is a bit dodgy.
RE: Line of Duty - Kyle - 2019-04-07 21:06
Hastings!!
RE: Line of Duty - Huski - 2019-04-08 15:18
I'm not keeping it too closed off yet, its many MANY pictures both from the board and one from the files, which I'm guessing is SI Hastings, off of the board are both pictures of those we know, ACC Hilton probably ACC Dryden and Dot Cotton too.
RE: Line of Duty - Kyle - 2019-04-14 21:36
Nice work, Huski
RE: Line of Duty - Huski - 2019-04-15 02:27
What did I say heh? Not Hastings. His wife might be screwed but hey, Hargreaves is dead, LOD keeps getting better
RE: Line of Duty - BP - 2019-04-15 11:50
I have a feeling Steve isn't going to make it out of this series alive.

RE: Line of Duty - Kyle - 2019-04-20 23:02
I think Gill might be 'H'.
RE: Line of Duty - Huski - 2019-04-21 22:13
Lise will crack next episode. I'm sad to say the plot to this LOD has been too thin, no twist has caught me off guard.
