A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO GUMBALL

If you're new to [TC] CityDriving and have never competed in Gumball then at first it might all seem quite confusing. This quick guide should hopefully get you started and help you to understand what all the fuss is about.

[Image: book.png] What is Gumball?

In real life, Gumball is a 3000 mile road trip adventure, and we've put our own unique spin on it. For more information on the real life Gumball, click here: (Click to View)

This year, our Gumball will start at 21:00 UTC+1 on Friday 2nd August and will last for 28 days. It is split into 4 tracks, 7 stages in total:
  • STAGE 1: Opening weekend on KYOTO, starting on Friday the 2nd of August and ending on Sunday 4th of August
  • STAGE 2: Weekdays on KYOTO - Monday to Friday - 5th to 9th August
  • STAGE 3: Weekend on BLACKWOOD - Saturday and Sunday 10th and 11th August
  • STAGE 4: Weekdays on BLACKWOOD - Monday to Friday - 12th to 16th August
  • STAGE 5: Weekend on WESTHILL - Saturday and Sunday 17th and 18th August
  • STAGE 6: Weekdays on WESTHILL - Monday to Friday - 19th to 23rd August
  • STAGE 7: Weekdays and weekend on MONTANA - Saturday to Friday - 24th to 30th August

Prize money will be split in half for stages 1-6 and stage 7. What prize money won't be spent for first 3 weeks of stages will transfer over to stage 7, where the winner of the stage will be the one and/or team travelling the farthest.

Stages 1-6 will have a predetermined distance of 500km, meaning you will have to drive said distance in order to complete a stage.

Quote:Example:
Monday: You manage 100 km
Tuesday: You manage 200 km
Wednesday: You cannot drive
Thursday: You manage 200 km

At this point you have completed the stage as you have driven 500 km in total and are no longer required to drive.

You will enable the start of your stage by going into "HOME MENU" in insim, where there will be an option "Rally" where you will see current stage and availability.

Stages 1-6 will have a predetermined distance which will be reasonable to all willing to attend the event.

For more information on the challenges, stages challenge and special events, please see the relevant sections in the 'About Gumball' thread.

So it's just driving? That sounds boring!

Wrong!

Gumball is not all about driving. The community comes alive during the Gumball. The opening night and opening weekend of Gumball are unique to our event. Most drivers will stay up all night and most of the next day to claim an early lead in the rally or to compete in competitions organised by the presenters of the non-stop CityDriving radio show that plays the best driving music into our ears all through the night. Teamspeak is always full, the mood is light and the community spirit is fantastic. Our live tracker will keep you up to date with your position in relation to everyone else in the rally to the metre. There will be a plethora of special events organised during the rally where you can claim even more prize money in just a few minutes! You really do have to try it out for yourself!

Not convinced?
