Auto Spec system - Marty_Deslions - 2023-11-22 14:34

(when i say "join the race", i mean it like join the citydriving in a vehicle)

With the current system, it's very easy to keep your trip, giving you like an hour idle kick time when you join the race. However, this creates a new-ish problem. Since it's now more common to just stay idle for an hour, this can become annoying to people that are in que trying to join the race.

I'm suggesting an additional timer that makes people go into spectator mode when they are idle too long, when the race is full or almost full. So for instance, a person has a trip of like 487 km, and is parked somewhere. Instead of an idle timer of like an hour, he gets an auto-spec timer of like 10 minutes when stays idle. When this timer runs out, he gets specced, but he keeps his trip, no matter where he was parked. He will not automaticly go into queue mod, he says in spectating mode, unless he manually joins the queue mode. If he says in spectating mode, he will get an idle kick timer, for lets say 60 minutes - 10 minutes = 50 minutes. (10 minutes less for the spec timer). I hope I make my point clear, please forgive any misunderstandings.

I don't understand why we need auto-spec timer if idled player is forced to spectate and he will not get automatically queue position.

Now when the timer runs out you get kicked from the server. I think people should be just specced, and keep their trip.

I think this is a pretty good idea.

How about we bring back the old trip system and scrap this useless endless trips system. 10 minute idle kick might work, but why spec them and keep them in the server? If you are not in queue, you might as well be out of the server.

I raised this issue in another thread.

>10 min on track idle time, then auto spec as thread suggests.
>1hr spectator idle timer after 200 kms then auto kick (in case the player needs to tend to a IRL matter, WC breaks, meals, walking dogs, etc.)

Right now, this is backwards. A person with 94756km trip can idle in the track for an hour, but as soon as they go into spectator mode, it becomes a 10 min idle timer. This doesn't make sense to me.

The problem with the autospec is that is automatically opens a door to abuse as Insim cannot distinguish between players parked somewhere and those being OOB.
So that would either mean, people lose their trip unfairly or people get their trip saved unfairly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

what about reducing the max idle time? So instead of an whole hour, maybe just half an hour?

I mean, why would you even wanna hold a place for an hour when you're afk walking the dog and cooking food etc, while over 20 people are waiting to actively join the citydriving? I mean, just quit LFS, walk your dog, cook your food, then rejoin LFS. Trip gets saved anyway if you quit in a safezone.

I completely agree with Post: #8 Marty
