Fate of the World - FR4NOx - 2012-07-18 22:25 Hello Had anyone heard of this strategy game, Fate of the World? It's a Steam game released almost a year and a half ago that simulates you being a global leader. Your job is to reduce or even reverse global warming, maintain political stability, life expectancy, and many other factors that will decide the world's fate after a predetermined amount of years (usually 100). http://store.steampowered.com/app/80200/ I don't have this game (yet), I have the money to buy it, just not an electronic mean to pay for it over Steam. A gameplay video (Click to View) RE: Fate of the World - Aus - 2012-07-30 15:01 Hmm, looks like an interesting concept. I want to see how hard it is to run the world. I'll buy it sooner or later. RE: Fate of the World - FR4NOx - 2012-07-30 15:58 It's really hard actually. Well, there's one mission that unlocks the evil mission, and knowing me, I really want to play the evil mission, except the mission I need to complete is soooo hard. So, I went evil on the mission I HAD to do: (by the way, this is a video you should watch fullscreen, as with all FOTW videos) RE: Fate of the World - Aus - 2012-07-30 16:21 Hahaha, I just want to destroy the world now. xD edit: How is EOTW: Tipping point? Is it as good/or better than EOTW? RE: Fate of the World - FR4NOx - 2012-08-08 07:00 Tipping Point includes a couple more missions...and I FINALLY beat Fuel Crisis... Dr. Apocalypse is SO hard, I'll just spend my days eating exotic animals in this mission (hint hint "Last-Chance Gourmet"). I'd go for it. I'll upload some screenshots and tell you all how I beat Fuel Crisis tomorrow, I'm exhausted now (3am br0). RE: Fate of the World - Chuck - 2012-08-08 08:41 I think it's generally possibly to save the earth in the 1st part. Otherwise, the expansion packs would be rather pointless lol RE: Fate of the World - FR4NOx - 2012-08-08 16:34 The expansion packs are just a couple more missions with added migration and some other insignificant stuff. I only needed to do one mission to unlock Dr. Apocalypse, which was the whole reason why I bought the game. The expansion packs don't have anything to do with beating the game, since you can't really beat it. Each mission is a different scenario where different factors are put into place. In Fuel Crisis, you need to accomplish the 3 degrees challenge while dealing with global famine, war, fuel shortages, and a generally Consumerist world. That means you need to be like a ninja, or just keep the temperature down and hope there isn't a methane clathrate explosion on the last turn to shoot the temperature up to 4 degrees like the first time I tried the mission. -.- Of course on Fuel Crisis, I only won because South Africa was deploying Sulfate Aerosols into the stratosphere to directly reduce the global temperature, and I was banned from all of the regions except for the Middle East and South Africa. North America engaged in war, Japan died of old age, the global economy crashed (happens no matter what), global famine because I was reliant on renewables but only banned 1st gen biofuels in Europe, while the rest of the world subsidized biochar to reduce emissions and improve their food supply. For the last 3 turns (2105-2120) the global temperature was at 3 degrees, but at the end of the game I magically reduced the temperature to 2.9 degrees (mission goal was to not exceed 3.0 degrees of global warming). I was lucky that there weren't any explosions of any sort to ruin the mission for me. Some screenshots (Click to View) (skip to the last 15 minutes if you want to see most of the murder) |
