Added weight (handicap) when hauling freight - Marty_Deslions - 2025-01-05 19:10

So when you're doing truck/freight mission, you carry loads of extra (insim) weight, but nothing is added as handicap to your actual vehicle.
I think it would be nice if weight was added automaticly when you're hauling freight with your truck/van/etc. The same way your can get automaticly intake restriction when you drive ww at some parts.
As far as I know the max is 200kg in added weight, so it can either be set to just cap at 200kg (for example 80kg insim is also 80kg handicap, to a max of 200kg), or it can be added to ratio (for instance 10kg is added per 100kg insim or something).

It's a small suggestion, but I think it makes freight missions just a little better.

Feel free to leave some constructive feedback/criticism.

This would be nice, what would be even better is if Scawen implemented my suggestion i made in the LFS forum where mod creators could set how much ballast could be added to a vehicle, because then we could set numbers for trucks to be proportionate to their actual weight capacity (example, the scama 311 could have 6000kg ballast capability and when we do jobs in the server that weight would be added accordingly)

Considering the current resources in the game, it would make sense to add this system to the server. However, I don't know if InSim is capable of adding weight to the vehicle once it's on the track - Chuck would be better able to answer that question.

Assuming there is no way for InSim to put a weight on the vehicle, should there be another system where, after picking up the cargo, you should go to the pits and put it on manually? I mean, equivalent to the intake restriction for powerful cars, which InSim does not allow to join the track before setting the voluntary intake restriction.

I agree with the suggestion.

I think InSim can restrict/add weight to user cars. There is these 2 commands in the file named "Commands.txt" in docs folder:

"h_mass username X :set added mass for user's car
/h_tres username X :set restriction for user's car"

Yes, chuck was able to add intake restriction to player's cars temporarily if they went WW in certain parts of the track (checkpoints were used)

Cool idea. I like the realism aspect of it. A vehicle would naturally get heavier with cargo onboard.

Prices should increase, if we load 4500 kg into a 3500 kg vehicle, the police may write a fine or something. it could be nice

Currently, this is not an alternative. If the load weighs more than your vehicle's capacity, InSim will require you to make more trips to complete the job.
