Server Rule Update - Use of force during chase - BP - Yesterday 12:52
Hello,
We have made some clarifications to the rules surrounding use of force during a chase, relevant to cops and suspects.
The section can be viewed here:
https://world.city-driving.co.uk/?page=rules#r15
In the near future, we plan on providing some demonstration GIFs which will appear in the Police Guide. These will provide a visual example of the maneuvers described in the rules.
Quote:15 Use of force in chases
15.1 General Points
15.1.1 The cop and suspect must not use any force until InSim states the suspect has failed to stop.
15.1.2 Chase participants must reasonably ensure that their use of force is unlikely to actively endanger traffic.
15.1.2.a For example, do not PIT maneuver or nudge your opponent towards the direction of any oncoming traffic.
15.2 Types of Force
15.2.1 Chase participants are permitted to use minor, calculated and tactical force against each other.
15.2.2 Any direct hit should cause minimal or no damage to any participant.
15.2.3 If a PIT maneuver against the opponent causes them to collide with a solid object, there must be no contact with the opponent at the moment they collide into that object.
15.2.3.a It is acceptable if the opponent collides with a solid object shortly after* the contact from the PIT maneuver has ended (*general guideline: a few seconds).
15.2.4 Participants must not attempt to PIT their opponent who is driving alongside a solid object (e.g. a wall or barrier) where there would be insufficient room for their vehicle to spin. This results in immediate damage.
15.2.5 While driving alongside the opponent, it is acceptable to use (only) minor force to guide or direct their vehicle into a solid object that lies ahead in the general path of the chase, resulting in the opponent's direct collision with the object (usually a frontal collision).
15.2.5.a The opponent can most likely position themselves carefully to prevent this.
15.2.5.b If the chase is travelling at higher speeds, this maneuver can be considered unsportsmanlike. Participants are discouraged from doing this (although permitted).
15.2.6 It is permitted to use tactical, light contact against a bike/motorcycle opponent (e.g. blocks and nudges).
15.3 Suspects & Roadblocks
15.3.1 Suspects are permitted to use the force necessary (a moderate ram at most) to break through a roadblock to avoid a bust. Avoid damaging the cops as far as possible.
