TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-15 20:38

I've been thinking again (oh god I hear many of you say).

I'm thinking of streaming a rock / metal style show on TC Radio, I'm not sure when I'd do it, it probably depends on when I can really Tongue

So yeah, what are your ideas on this?

RE: TC Radio - Kyllone - 2012-10-15 20:41

TC once had a official TC CityDriving radio. Its not working atm or sumthing I dont know Tongue

But yes, too much people play the same stuff so rock music i would listen definetly.

And as far as i can work out, if you can get your radio working, no one will block you advertising it on the server Biggrin

Go for it.

RE: TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-15 20:53

Sweet, I downloaded SAM Broadcaster, I have it figured out pretty much, just need to get my mic to work with it - Any idea how to do this?

Also, how do I broadcast to TC's player?

RE: TC Radio - Jedi - 2012-10-15 20:55

As Kyllone said the TC Radio is currently not running.
Im one of the admins for it and if something happens with the radio we will post it Smile

RE: TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-15 20:58

Okay, there was actually a few people interested in DJing for it including me if you want to open it again...

RE: TC Radio - Brad - 2012-10-15 21:16

We have the people interested, but the main issue is getting a server to host the radio on, as our previous provider pulled out.

If you/anyone has any ideas or contacts, let Jedi or myself know.

RE: TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-15 21:25

A cheap radio host: http://spacialnet.com/

RE: TC Radio - Brad - 2012-10-15 21:30

Still relatively expensive, when you bear in mind that to stream music you really need >128kbps.

I used to use SAM, couldn't get my mic to work with it at all. I now use Virtual DJ (much better program imo, with significantly better audio quality)

RE: TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-15 21:39

Mkay, I'll dry VDJ tomorrow. For now I'm gonna get some sleep.

EDIT: Please can you post a link on how to use VDJ to stream, I just quickly downloaded it and can't figure it out at all for my mic, let alone streaming...

RE: TC Radio - Brad - 2012-10-15 21:53

It depends what skin you are using I think. I use the following:

Go to CONFIG in the top right, select Mic from the Inputs, and then click the little Mic icon in top-right to activate/deactivate.

It takes a while to get used to, but it gives you much more scope than SAM.

Let me know if you have any other issues Smile

RE: TC Radio - Jedi - 2012-10-15 21:55

I made a Virtual Dj Tutorial for TC radio, it will be available to djs when we get the radio going.
It'll show how to set up to the stream, im not sure about mic though. but go by what Brad said Smile

$35/month for just a shoutcast server that isn't painful to listen to is far from cheap, especially when you consider you can get full VPS hosting for considerably less than that.

RE: TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-16 05:38

Oh, if the radio runs off a VPS, in that case I know a few:

http://www.fluctishosting.com/ - Fluctis (Based in France)

http://www.creeperhost.net - CreeperHost (Based in UK)

http://www.vortexunit.com/ - VortexUnit (Based in US)

RE: TC Radio - Chuck - 2012-10-16 05:54

I made a free account at http://myradiostream.com/ the other day. Does basically the job but they shut-down the serverinstance once the inputstream is offline for some time and thats really annoying as you got to log in via the webpanel and hit "start".

RE: TC Radio - Stephen - 2012-10-16 06:14

I would be willing to offer my pc as a host, If it could work. I don't do anything with it during the day at work or at night when I'm sleeping, so maybe it could be of some use. I hardly ever turn it off (unless I go away for more than a few days) so downtime shouldn't be a problem.

The problem would probably be upload speed, maybe a trial would show if its possible to host with my pc or not.

RE: TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-16 06:16

Okay I can't ge VDJ to work with my mic. When I select mic as an input is automatically selects an ASIO sound card which by choosing this setting doesn't allow me to do anything... How can I fix it?

RE: TC Radio - KaraK - 2012-10-16 06:33

I never had any problems with my mic and SAM. What exactly is the problem you're having?

RE: TC Radio - Seven - 2012-10-16 06:43

KaraK - It doesn't seem to be very loud. I can hear that my mic works because I tapped it and heard the tap, but even when the music volume is lowered 80% my voice can hardly be heard or the taps.

RE: TC Radio - Dan - 2012-10-16 11:40

I would also be interested in being part of the presentation team; being a DJ I am familiar with both SAM Broadcaster and Virtual DJ Pro.

RE: TC Radio - Brad - 2012-10-16 12:46

Okay, behind the scenes we are currently discussing options on how to revive TC Radio (if possible at the moment). We will let you know if/when there are any updates.
