[SOLVED] New PC... - Lewis - 2011-10-29 23:31 Hey guys, i am getting a new desktop pc soon. Its a Dell XPS 8300 and i want some help on getting a graphics card. This graphics card needs to: Be able to run 2/3 or more screens, be able to run games at a good standard e.g. LFS and F1 2011 The standard one it comes with is a NVIDIA® GeForce GT 545 1GB DDR5. Some of the other ones that can be fitted by dell for me are: AMD Radeon™ HD 6870 1GB DDR5, NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1.25GB GDDR5, AMD Radeon™ HD 6770 1GB DDR5. So my main question was, what one would be the best one to have ? RE: New PC... - Knight - 2011-10-30 03:02 6870. I would do even a 6950 and install it yourself RE: New PC... - Lewis - 2011-10-30 03:05 Thanks Knight, do you know how many screens the 6870 would run ? RE: New PC... - FR4NOx - 2011-10-30 04:55 Eyefinity runs up to 6 I think. You don't need much to run LFS (trust me, Gt 240 at max settings with various graphics mods and still 100fps), so you can expect quite great performance from a 6870. NVIDIA cards only handle 2 monitors apart from the GTX 590, which handles 3. If I were you, I would get the cheapest card from Dell and install a 2gb 6870 or 6950 if you plan on a trimonitor setup. RE: New PC... - Lewis - 2011-10-30 16:33 Thanks for your help guys, just ordered the computer and i got it with the AMD Radeon™ HD 6870 1GB DDR5 card. Should be here in a few weeks. RE: New PC... - FR4NOx - 2011-10-30 19:29 No problem. ![]() ![]() |
