Spam on the new forum - Monster - 2013-03-11 13:57 Hi everyone. After like 170 threads deleted and 7 spammers banned, Im bored. Is there an option for new people to be checked by an admin before getting the permission to post thread on the forum? I don't know how its working, but Im bored to perma ban spammers and I am wasting my time.. Is there a solution? if yes, thannkkkksssss RE: Spam on the new forum - Chuck - 2013-03-11 15:02 What forum you talking about? RE: Spam on the new forum - Johan. - 2013-03-11 17:04 I think you can better do an attempt on integrating Captcha on your forum Monster. RE: Spam on the new forum - Dan - 2013-03-11 17:09 Presumebly you're using MyBB as your forum software. As a Web Developer, I use the following plugins on my forum(s): http://mods.mybb.com/view/stopforumspam-com-for-mybb - "This plugin is aimed to help combat the ever present war on spam, this enables you to check all new registrations to your forum against the stopforumspam.com database to see if they are known spammers. It can check their username, email and IP address." http://mods.mybb.com/view/fassim-anitspam - "The plug in will block known spammers/bots from registering via IP, email address, anonymous proxy, top email domains, top ISP - (Internet Service Provider) spammers. Also, allows you to block countries via country code and region's." http://mods.mybb.com/view/registration-security-question - ""Adds a randomly selected security question on registration page. Questions can be added/edited/deleted from the admin panel."" I don't get any spam bots with these installed. Hope this helps! RE: Spam on the new forum - Orange™ - 2013-03-11 22:55 Just saw the CSR Forum's and yes it's a spammer but to be honest it has nothing to do with TC really. Should really contact Trance as it was his friend that built the forums. RE: Spam on the new forum - Chuck - 2013-03-12 07:13 Well, we're using a self-made plugin to check the given lfs-username provided in the registering-page against our database and check whether its present. That magically reduced the number of phoney registrations to less than 0.1%. We did try the aforementioned plug-ins too, but with less success tbh. RE: Spam on the new forum - Roba - 2013-03-12 16:16 Atleast I have on RDSR forums options on Admin CP, where I can decide for example to enable the Captcha code, or choose new registered users to be approved before they can post.. Has the spammer problem too, after banning few of them I changed the settings, and currently have 19 un-activated random users.. |
