Can MED Have !siren CMD? - Kyle - 2013-06-24 17:43

Hello
Can MEDs Have !siren Command (SHows Siren On-screen) Because MEDs Have Acces To Police Siren.
Thanks

Jack

Although we openly accept suggestions, please think it through before you post, and also put some effort into it, after all, this is a forum not a shout box.

The issue with medics having !siren is that it will conflict with the police sirens. Also, it can be argued that cops in a chase should take priority over some MED who's racing to a flipped car.

Not to mention some medics aren't even responding to a call when driving with sirens on.

Hey,

hmm... i saw many times, that Medic´s driving with siren for fun and not for a call. Glare

I mean its better 1 or 2 Tow´s on a accident than 4 or more Medic´s. To many Tow´s or Medic´s for one Accident doing mutch trouble on track.

How about we make a new rule where if medics used !siren, or a medic version (e.g green and blue) they have to be responding to a call (only works if you join a task) and if a chase comes across a medic, they have to respect it like another chase?

Good idea, and I see more only green for medic !siren (for avoid the misunderstand with blue lights).

+1 from me

MED's are strictly a roleplay aspect and don't really have any function - Sure, they can tow people, but that's what tows and their tags originally were for. The sirens aren't needed and would only result in clutter on the screen.

I'm with Leon, it can also confuse members thinking it'll be a chase coming up.

-1 from me.

This has been said before but i say in this thread too:

If medic's would have siren, many people would like to be medic. Then a user call for tow and 10 people respond whit siren. This will make people to just ignore when a siren came and will let the job for police harder.

Giving more than 1 emergency service the use of !siren would reduce its exclusivity and therefore reduce its effect.

I also tend to agree with this.

This has been discussed so many times in the past..

My suggestion is more like Luke's here, except that MED/RES should not have the ability to manually turn on the visual "sirens". Only when they are responding to a call by automatic and helping others, and their "siren" should be in a blue or green color as Luke suggested, but just stating "MED/Rescue" or something in those directions.

Either way, i can see the difficulties and confusions this will bring overall, and thereby will probably never be more than just a discussion Smile

That. And... how much TOWs/MEDs you know who really know what are they doing and know towing techniques? Most of them dont even know how to do a U-turn safely. Most of TOWs/MEDs cause usually more accidents and sometimes its better to be towed by civilian who know what is he doing than by "tow" who is only ramming you counting for lucky turning me back on my wheels.

I'd have to Agree with Starter on that point. Most of us already know that I personally decided to remove my [TOW] tag because of recent events with "Newer" TOWS and MEDS that are litterally causing chaos on the server (Bad Tows, 15 car jam!, Lost trips).

If we give more power to an "RP" role that is already able to take-over on the [TOW] tag's job, why can't TOWS have the !Hazard function then? What about !Roadblock? This could be useful for some TOWS (especially on Highways).

Anyways, i'm not here to discuss the difference between and TOW and a MED but you already know my opinion that MEDS are already able to do Too-much so i don't see why they should have more power.

RE: Can MED Have !siren CMD? - railker - 2013-06-26 00:24

I can agree with the sentiments of this thread, and of noctambule, even as a MED. While it's hard to place rules on 'social' skills without being overbearing, I think that some more common courtesy should be shown around the server -- if a TOW or MED is already responding to the call, then don't start towing because you get there first (or if you're not even a TOW). Unless maybe check with them on chat. Be careful of traffic, even with -Caution- sign on. One person tows, nothing makes a tow go slower than when it's a gangrape. MED should really just be a "class" of tow, and as far as the rules are concerned beyond being allowed use of audible sirens, they are just that.

IDK. Bottom line, visual siren is not required.
