Step 1 - Installing the emulator

Grab your iDevice and click this link.

I decided to install the Gameboy Advance Emulator. Due to technical limitations, you can only install one of the emulators from the above link at a time, so choose wisely. I'm yet to discover if installing a different emulator will wipe any saved data on the current emulator, and I will report back with my findings.

Scroll down until you see the GBA4iOS option, and click install.



It will ask you if you wish to install the app. Of course you do.



The app will then download to your device and appear on your main screen.



Step 2 - Finding games!

Click the icon for the app and it will open. It will look similar to this, except you won't have Pokemon yet:



Click the search icon in the top right and it will take you to a Google search for GBA ROMs. Alternatively, click this link for the site I've found to be best.

Step 3 - Choosing and downloading a game

If you used this site then this step of the guide should still work for you. If you decided to use a different site, you're an idiot and I probably can't help you now.

You'll see a list like this. Click the game you want. I chose Pokemon Emerald, because c'mon, Pokemon!



It will take you to a page like this. Ignore Haley at the top, you know how she gets when she's alone... Also, ignore the fact that it tells you that you will need a jailbroken device. This is a lie, you do not need a jailbroken device. It works fine without any jailbreak.



Scroll down and click the download button at the bottom. The web bar at the top will slowly turn blue as it downloads the file; this is normal and you might have to expect a small wait depending on how slow your network is.



Once the blue bar has gone all the way across, you are taken to a white screen. Click "Open with GBA4iOS" and it will transfer the ROM to the emulator. This might take a while, and it might need a few presses. It seems to be a bit stubborn for some people, other times its pretty fast. The emulator will open when it has transferred.



Step 4 - Playing your games

Now that the emulator is open, simply click your game.







To save or load your ROM progress, press Menu in the bottom left. As far as I can tell, this is mainly a backup. You should still save via the normal in-game save methods for whatever game you choose.



A few additional notes: Some games can be more resource-intensive than others. I recommend shutting down all other apps to get the most performance out your device. Your battery might also take a heavy hit.
