What's wrong with what I've said?

RE: Crashed my RC helicopter.
If I were ever to get an RC helicopter, I'd get one of those quad rotor ones that keep themselves level.
Shame though. |

RE: Crashed my RC helicopter.
Mc Gherkin is right. It's true that any RC model (helicopter, plane, boat, car etc) that's accurate to the real thing, but smaller will require faster reactions. It's simple physics - remember what the twin towers looked like when they were falling? Like a slow motion video. Now imagine an accurate jenga model of the twin towers falling - it's the same dynamics, except it happens far quicker.
I think you may also be right about the cause of the crash, Mc Gherkin. From the video you can see the heli becomes a little unstable from wind, shortly before I take a bit of power off to try and lower it. I then tried to tilt it forwards a little to balance it - I seem to remember the heli reacted very sensitively at that point and tilted far forwards. I'm sure an experienced pilot could have done something, but I had no control. I have a small indoor quad rotor heli and I learned how to fly it well very quickly (anyone can). That's when I decided to go for something challenging. Perhaps more challenging than I expected though. |
