I Have an Idea Today That I Saw on Another Cruise Server Years Ago
It's about car accidents. Currently, on the server, if Car 1 crashes into Car 2, the situation usually ends with a simple apology. But is Car 1 really satisfied with that? (If they’re lucky, a police officer might witness the accident and issue a fine—but this money goes into the police budget, not to the innocent driver, which I think is unfair). Many people might not have the patience to report a small accident on the forum unless someone is intentionally causing crashes multiple times, which is a different issue that admins already handle on the forum. But I say, why not handle car accidents like real life? What I mean is that when a crash happens, if it’s a major accident, the scene should remain untouched until the police arrive. The officer could then analyze the situation, determine who is at fault, and issue a fine accordingly. A portion of this fine could go to the police for handling the case, while another portion could be given to the innocent driver involved in the accident. To implement this, we could create a dedicated set of traffic accident rules so that both police officers know how to issue fines properly and players understand their rights and responsibilities. Example Scenarios Scenario 1: Rear-end Collision If Car 1 crashes into Car 2 and Car 3 waiting at a red light: If they resolve it among themselves (like it is now), no problem. But if Car 2 and Car 3 have an issue, they can call the police. The officer would then analyze the accident scene and determine who is at fault. Possible New Fine System for Accidents: Rear-end collision fines: If the speed at impact is below 20 km/h → €200 If the speed is between 20-50 km/h → €300 If the speed is above 50 km/h → €500 If Car 1 caused a chain collision (hitting both Car 2 and Car 3), both should receive compensation. Wrong-way collision (head-on crash): Fine amount should depend on damage and impact speed (e.g., €200, 400, or €600). Collision on a turn: The car that was overtaking or swerving should be fined. Red light violation accident: A higher fine should be applied (admins can decide the amount). Hit-and-Run Penalty If the guilty driver flees the accident scene: If Car 2 or Car 3 calls the police: The officer checks the scene, determines fault, and marks Car 1 as "wanted" for 3 minutes. Other officers should be able to see the suspect in ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition). A double fine should be issued for fleeing. When the police catch and stop Car 1, the fine should be split between Car 2 and Car 3 as compensation. False Emergency Call Penalty If Car 2 or Car 3 makes a false accident report, they should receive a fine for false reporting. Final Thoughts This is just a suggestion and requires careful thought and discussion. The opinions of other players on this would be interesting to hear. I understand that this system might increase police workload, but it will also create more financial circulation, benefiting both officers and innocent drivers. Ultimately, I believe this will encourage safer driving. ? Don’t be afraid to increase accident fines—stronger penalties act as deterrents. There should be a clear difference between responsible drivers and reckless ones who cause crashes. Looking forward to your thoughts! ??? Thanks ChatGPT. Additional Suggestion: During a police chase, if the suspect crashes into civilian vehicles, the final fine amount should include extra charges for the damage caused. After the police successfully stop and arrest the suspect, an option should appear for the officers to add compensation for each vehicle the suspect hit during the chase. The total fine amount increases based on the number of vehicles damaged. The compensation is directly paid to the affected drivers, making it fair for those who suffered damage due to the chase. This would make suspects more careful when escaping and add realistic consequences to reckless getaways! ??? Even the Police Should Have a Compensation Fund! ?? To make things even fairer, the police department should have a reserve fund to cover damages caused by officers colliding with civilian vehicles. This fund can work in two ways: Personal Officer Compensation ? Each officer has a personal balance for handling minor accidents they cause. If an officer hits a civilian car, they pay compensation from their own balance. Police Department Fund (Tax-Based System) ?️ A small percentage (e.g., 10%) of every fine collected from pursuits goes into a compensation fund. This fund is used to automatically pay civilians for accidental damage caused by police during chases. How It Works: After each pursuit, 10% of the total fine amount is transferred to the police fund. If an officer hits a civilian car, the damage is covered by the police fund instead of the civilian driver paying for it. This system ensures that officers drive responsibly while still allowing them to do their job. This will add realism and fairness, making sure that both suspects and police are accountable for the damage they cause! ??? |

RE: Accident refund
I like some aspects of it, but ultimately this is going to increase the complexity of crashes by quite a lot.
I like the idea of two players resolving the incident at the scene and becoming wanted by the police if they drive off but there are issues such as; Car A or B flies out of the map, leaving the detection zone, even if the crash was not their fault. Car A & B not communicating, or agreeing. There are a lot of variables, making it complicated. |
