Can there be difference in imput latency while frames are at 100?
Okay this is more of a general gaming question regarding FPS and imput latency for PC.
So I play this game, The Elder Scrolls Online, and I play around with the graphic settings. When I have the steam fps counter on, I can watch the fps, obviously. Here is where it gets abit confusing. When I am in certain area's, and I have the Ambient Occlusion set to LSAO I can get 100 fps (capped). When I turn AO to none/off, I still have 100 fps, because capped. However when I look around, it feels a tiny bit more responsive when the AO is off, eventhough I get the same number of frames. Is this even possible or is it just in my head? Like when you get 100 fps, you would always get the same imput latency right? |

RE: Can there be difference in imput latency while frames are at 100?
well marty latency refers to the delay or time it takes for data to travel between two points on a network, and it changes due to factors like distance, network congestion, and the quality of the network infrastructure. Due to these factors alone never mind ram and cpu data packets and travel between the times to read them. this is why sometimes it feels faster slower etc i hope it helps.

RE: Can there be difference in imput latency while frames are at 100?
Say that you dont change anything in graphic settings for a shooter game that runs smooth on your pc. Lets say you get like a 160 fps uncapped. You have very low input latency so the game feels super responsive and direct. But now you cap your frames to like 80 fps, meaning the fps wont go above 80. Would this also automaticly increase the input latency? Because instead of 160 pieces of information per second, its now only dealing with 80 pieces of information?
Or does a frame cap (and fps) only really affect what goes between your pc and the monitor a d not perse what goes between your mouse/keyboard and pc? mouse/keyboard ------(input latency)------ PC ------(fps)------ monitor |

it only ever affects your data flow and timing. the other issue in graphic settings that is a big thing to slow computers in general is shadows and v.sync. turning these to a low setting or off completly will save you a lot of performance.
