Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
Hi,
Little idea I had. Cops could type a command such as !ready and it would add them to a queue. As soon as a backup call comes through, they would automatically be assigned to the suspect based on who's at the top of the list. For example, Bob types !ready, then Betty types !ready. The next time a backup call comes through, Bob will automatically be assigned that call; moving Betty down the list to number one. I don't think concept is that difficult(?) to grasp, but if you'd like me to explain it in better detail I will be happy to. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I don't think there's a real need for it. Also, I can envisage a cop doing it and whining when they're an FXO and they join on FZ5/XFR because they think their friend will call for backup but it was a different chase that did (as an example).

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I think it's a good idea, but what happens if the cop in the chase only wants his friend to join or the person you does !ready doesn't want to chase a specific suspect?

I was thinking this, yup; is very valid. But I'm open to any suggestions on how we could get around said thing. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
To sort out the one where you might not want to join a certain chase, there could be ques for individual chases. As for the problem where a cop calling for backup doesn't want certain cops to join or only friends, I don't think there's a solution.

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I don't like the idea. A lot of chases are organised between cops. Many times I've heard in TS ''Can I join your chase? - ''Sure, get ready! *calls*'' - ''*joins* Thanks''
Also in reality there are no cop queue, people respond based on how close they are or if they can be assed... Not a bad thought though. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I thought about it, it could be that if you type in !ready, and someone calls for backup, you can either wait the 30(?) seconds for the call to end and automatically join it, or within the 30 seconds type in !join or !cancel(?) to join earlier or cancel your ready position.

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I just think its a bad idea for the following reasons:
First of all to define "Back-up" - One that supports or reinforces - Someone who takes the place of another (as when things get dangerous or difficult) So for that someone to join the chase, he needs to be: Ready, Un-Occupied, and Close. Having this ridiculous command "!ready" gives no priority to close units, but rather a stupid queue that doesn't follow any system. Cop1 will definitely want someone close to his chase to join rather than someone sitting outside pits waiting for the system to push him in a random chase. Also, many cops use TeamSpeak so they'd have an advantage of using audio to direct other cops, and they probably want to ask for backup for those cops who are ready on TeamSpeak. Just think of it, and think of every angle. It'd remove the realism of every chase. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I dont think this should be added, just because of the distance to the suspect.

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
What if you do !ready [Chaser's Name] and then join? and !ready if you want to join a random one.
And if you do !ready and the chaser is too far away then you cant join but it makes the closest police officer join the chase. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
Also, imagine person A typing !ready.
Meanwhile, a user drives past 20 kmh faster than the speedlimit, and person A goes after him. How is he ready then for the chase he typed !ready for? |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I could perhaps see this working from a practical standpoint if the person top of the queue is given a message on-screen (provided they're still potentially in a position to join of course) giving them, say, 5s to click OK to join the chase.
From a gameplay perspective, I don't see the need or benefit unless it's paired with some kind system for the cop calling for backup to choose/prioritise who they want for backup. Whether even that would be a good idea or not is debatable. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
Elmo summed it up for me aswell. Probably could be solved by having two seperate backup calls, one for a specific user and one for the backup queue.
The specific user backup would obviously just be the regular backup we have now, so you have to tell your mate to !join quickly. No point doing !backup <user> as it's just not practical in chases for numerous reasons. The other backup would take a cop from the queue. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
Is there any way we can cut down on the people who spam the !join command? It's happened to me and orange a few times he's said in cop chat bez join and someone spams the shit out of !join just to get in a chase.

You´re not suppose to be first in the chase. You need to consider your car vs the suspects and if there are other (specific) cops in the vicinity that the lead cop want to join in. |

RE: Insim Idea -> Backup Queue
I'd prefer a backup system that allows the following:
- Limited no. of backup calls depending on the length of the chase. E.g. 1 !backup in the first 5 mins. - Cops closest/within a set distance to the chase are given priority to !join. |

I think the current system is just fine, but we need to find a way to cut the number of spammers. |
