Hex Texture Tutorial

Just figured i'd share this information whilst i'm working on it.

For those of you who're interested in making police skins with hex textures on the stickers, there is a very simple and easy way to do it, here are the stages, using Photoshop CS5 but will most likely work in other versions.

Step 1.

Save this somewhere;

Step 2.

Open it in Photoshop, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Edit -> Define Pattern

Enter a name, OK

Step 3.

Go to the image you wish to add the pattern to. Right click the relevent layer and click Blending Options;

Tick "Pattern Overlay"

Select your pattern.

Under Blend mode choose either "Multiply" (Makes dark hexagons on your texture) Or "Divide" (Makes light hexagons on your texture)

Play with Opacity and Scale until you are happy.

Press OK

Forgot to mention, the hex texture I provided is a bit light, it's possible to make them darker by going to Image -> Adjustments -> Levels, and moving the grey arrow towards the white arrow
