After all it's a built-in insim function that everyone could have used. The fact that none of the organisers expected this to happen, doesn't really change anything. It only shows that even harmless, little fun events need a significant amount of preparation. While in pvl's case it was obvious that the cargo didn't match the completed jobs, there is no real guarantee that none of the other participants never used that method or other means to cancel a trip, i.e. by pitting, or "losing connection". In the end I think it was a planning mistake by not clearly stating what rules apply and it pretty much reminds me of the Gumbal "Pedal to the metal award incident" some years back. However I'm glad the situation could be solved by mutual consent. |

RE: Van Obsessions - Announcement & Discussion
I'm pretty much here voting for not blaming PVL, he used an insim command avaliable for the purpose of cancelling a job. Certainly can't be called cheater, exploiter or whatever. For this event it was certainly not meant to be used in that way and SO decided to remove him from the results. Understandable. Hope everyone can live with that.

RE: Van Obsessions - Announcement & Discussion
I want to thank everyone for the feedback on the event. It's very much appreciated and we'll reflect on what everyone has said. We will make sure that rules are clear and that there is no space for interpretation next time.
With that being said, I want to clear something that's been bothering me: We're not accusing PVL of cheating. What he did was "legal", as per our rules, since nothing said that the loads had to be delivered. He used a command that's available for every player, and used it as an advantage. While there was no foul play, we did feel like it went against the spirit of the competition. We did confirm with Chuck that what PVL was doing was not illegal and was within Insim's boundaries. We did also discuss with PVL about it. In the end, we decided to remove PVL from the competition because he was already pretty far ahead from other players who completed the full loads each time. Again, I want to thank everyone for the event, and would like to personally apologize on behalf of Street Obsessions for the confusion that stemmed from our lack of clear rules. |
