Old concept. There have been prototypes of this laying around for atleast 3 years. And the first flexible display (without touch control) is from the 70's.

Afaik the actual problem was that "old" displays could not actively emit light. So they need some additional light-source behind to make use of the display.
I kinda like the idea though if my alarm clock had a display that extends in the morning and plays the news or some light effects. (like in the vid @ 0:45) |
