I also think that a cop should not be allowed to sit in the zone where the limit changes, like how a cop always seems to be sat on the first turn right in the change of speed from 100mph to 60mph (and that's a big difference in speed). It's rather annoying when I'm sticking to the limits trying to keep my +4 constant, if I slow down in the 100 then I drop to +2 or +3 and on long trips it certainly adds up. Interesting theory but this implies that a cop can't chase you for speeding during speed limit change if he is right behind you. You're supposed to slow down before the speed limit starts. Just like it is handled in real life. Remember, e.g. in Germany speed limits within a city's boundaries are 50kph in general and 100kph on normal roads, i.e. you have to slow down 50kph as well. If you fail, you'll pay. True story. |

RE: Speedtraps
Same applies here in the UK. You MUST slow down before entering any speedzoned area, eg. National speed limit (60mph) into a town, village (30MPH or 40MPH) Normally these are marked but, Live for speed's object limit is very demanding on TC layouts. Therefore you are responsible for the speed when entering a new speedzone.

Technically yes, but as we don't have speedlimit signs and especially new players won't know the speedlimits nor the exact location they are enforced, it seems a bit unfair. So if you sit right on a border we might tell you to move a few meters. Also in germany the law is a bit different, as you are only allowed to place speedtraps 75-200m(some regions have more some less) behind a new speedlimit sign. There can be exceptions in front of schools/nursing homes. |

Going a little bit off-topic, but this is a (German) urban myth. By law you are obliged to slow down before the sign and be within the speedlimit when passing the sign. It's just an internal recommendation of the police not to do it. However, if you get measured and fear to lose your driver's license, you can appeal in court to this decision. Payment has to be done in any case. Many people get this wrong. I agree that TC servers do not have any traffic signs, but it is quite obvious where to slow down (there are even overview maps available here). Furthermore speedtraps aren't online 24/7 (as in opposite to real life) but just for ten minutes. Imho this discussion is going nowhere. In the end, it is a cruising server with a neat and nice cop/robber game mechanic. If anybody wants to race on layouts, TC is probably the wrong place to be then. |

From what i have read that is not the case, however the compulsory distance greatly differs by region (Bundesland) and where the speedtrap is located. In special circumstances they are also allowed to go under the compulsory distance if they have a good reason to do so (schools, etc). Obviously the outcome differes from case to case, so a general conclusion can not really be made. E: Great update chuck, thanks. |

RE: Speedtraps
Why make cops recieve 25% of the fine?
That's just lazy if you ask me. If a cop irl sets a speedtrap and gets 1000€ out of it, he doesn't recieve 250€ out of it, right? |

That's what I mean.
If his speedtrap earns 1000, he can't keep any money out of it. |
