Sure thing I'm the first one who pays for it. However, in his situation with a short budget he can always choose for an alternative till he has the money to pay for it. And, even better, I never mentioned anything illegal. There're product keys to get a 180 days proof period. That way he can use windows till his budget is enough to fulfill a licence. |

RE: help on getting new pc
You don't happen to own a valid Windows license you could transfer?
But anyway, Skoda raised a very valid point. The costs for the OS license is often ignored, but if you pay 50 pound for a game you play like 30 hours, you surely see the point in paying for an operating system that you gonna use for thousands of hours. If only all games would run on Linux, it's a shame that powerful companies like Rockstar ain't willing to make them. ETS2 however and many others do, you'd be surprised. |

(2016-02-10 10:16)LowRider Wrote: my old laptop uses windows 10 could i use that Depends on both of these: A. You have the install media and key B. You wont be able to use your laptop because it will be deactivated. When I built my new PC last April, I could use the same Windows 8.1 key off my old machine, however, when I transferred the license over, it rendered my old PC deactivated. I did this by entering my product key into windows, then it said that key was already in use, but there was an option iirc to phone Windows Activation and place the product ID (NOT key) from the new PC, it then activated my new PC and deactivated my old PC. However, if you didn't use the internet in any way on your laptop, you could keep the same installation, because the laptop needs to communicate with the internet for it to deactivate itself. |

RE: help on getting new pc
there are windows 10 keys on ebay for around 15 to 20 euro.
You only get the key via email/msg and sometimes get a very small watermark like "education version" on the desktop. this is quite easily removable with google tho. those are mostly keys that are meant to be for third-world-countries or for preinstalled windows on netbooks and stuff as far as i understood. seems to be legal(at least in germany) from what i googled. cant guarantee any of the above. feel free to use google yourself if interested. all i can say is it worked totally fine for someone i did it. |

RE: help on getting new pc
It could even be a more tricky. They way I understand MS's free-Win10-upgrade-policy, they allow you to upgrade ONE pc to Win 10 using a Win 7 or 8 license.
So, if you move your Win 8 license to another PC, that upgrade-entitlement is gone and you'd have to stick with Win 8. |

RE: help on getting new pc
You could try just putting Win7 onto a USB from your old laptop by downloading it from the internet, then put it onto your new PC? There are programs out there like dazloader that make it appear genuine etc.
You can easily avoid paying for it, there will be tutorials on how to get it installed. Just depends if you want to save the money by putting in a little more work. |

RE: help on getting new pc
The 750Ti is a great starter card and can easily manage 60FPS in GTA5, not every single setting has to be on high, my old HD7770 from 2011-2012 with 1GB of VRAM could happily run GTA5 at high (not very high) settings and top 70FPS. The 750Ti is more powerful than the HD7770
Also, its a common myth that Windows slows down overtime, the fact is, unless it has malware or bloatware or the main storage is on the verge on being full, windows does not slow down overtime! Ignore the "clean windows" facts from GT4. Also an SSD does not affect how fast a website loads, HDDs load websites just as fast, it just depends on your internet speeds. I'm talking from experience from using a HDD and an SSD, all the SSD provides is faster loading times. No extra FPS is gained and they cost ALOT more. |
