Maths riddle, try to solve
okay guys, I want to know if there's any solution to this riddle.
X + Y = Z Z + X = A Z = 9,841 I want one concrete solution (so only 1 solution is correct). My thougts (Click to View) |

RE: Maths riddle, try to solve
I bet it's actually easy to understand and solve with some algebra, but I'm not in the mood right now

RE: Maths riddle, try to solve
9 + 0.841 = 9.841
9.841 + 9 = 18.841 X=9 Y=0.841 Z=9.841 However, X and Y could be any two numbers that add up to 9.841. For example: 5 + 4.841 = 9.841 9.841 + 5 = 14.841 X= 5 Y= 4.841 So I don't see how there can be one solution to this problem. |

RE: Maths riddle, try to solve
I think there was a condition in the original equation which hasn't been mentioned, such as y=z

RE: Maths riddle, try to solve
Afaik this is a undetermined linear system of equations, so you have to guess a bit.
x+y=z z+x=a -> Z=a-x => "a= 9,841+x" and "y=9,841-x" Trying it with x=1 a=10.841 y=8,841 x+y=z -> 8,841-1 = 9,841 z+x=a -> 9,841+1 = 10.841 (2012-07-07 19:14)Michi Wrote: tbh I think there is an infinite amount of possible solutions, am I right?ye |

RE: Maths riddle, try to solve
its not possible to solve 3 unknown values with only 2 equations. youll need at least as much equations as unknown values.

RE: Maths riddle, try to solve
It's called maths, not bullcrap
As above, there's an infinite range of values for X and Y (you can use -10000 and 10009.841). |
