I use ECC on my dedicated servers for hosting. Non-ECC at my desktop.

It doesn't matter that much at the desktop. The difference is so small that you won't feel it imo. For a server you require ECC to avoid any possible problem / downtime , whatever, but for a desktop, why would you need it?

alot of desktops (especially intel) dont even support ECC and wont run at all. at least it used to be like that some years ago, not sure if changed...
just be safe, take non ecc, save some bucks, and maybe even use 2% "boost" ecc would use
