Chase rules
So I was chasing someone, and they kept trying to push me into a wall. Let's say there is a straight, and on the grass next to the straight there is a wall not parallel to the straight, so it goes across the grass so you can't go along the grass if that makes sense. If I'm on the side closest to the grass and the suspect is on the other side of me and they turn into me making me hit the wall on purpose (was slowing down to wait for me to do it), is it allowed? I had to stop chase after a few times he/she tried/did the same thing, so was wondering if allowed or not

RE: Chase rules
Yes it is allowed, as long as he/she pushes you to change your direction into the wall.
So as you describe, its a straight line, and with the push he/she changes your direction making you end up against the wall, thats your own risk and its on your hands whether you let it happen or not. Made some poor pictures with paint, however, I hope it helps you understand it. - Black boxes refer to a car - Red line refers to a wall. - Arrows refer to the direction the car goes Allowed: A situation similar to this. Not Allowed: |

Thought maybe its not fair really, not a fun way to end the chase. Its morally wrong I guess, and rules do say any force used must cause minor damage, but going 100+ plus and having it done will cause more than minor damage (2016-04-03 21:57)Nathan Wrote: Bit of a grey area which has been brought up a few times recently! Surely the rule saying don't use excessive force or all force must cause minor damage wouldn't allow it, I got pretty destroyed |

RE: Chase rules
That topic has been discussed thoroughly in public and nonpublic areas, but since certain TC members like to do it, all efforts were in vain.
If you ask me, manoeuvres like that are nothing but destruction on purpose, which is basically the same as ramming and as such it should be forbidden. |

RE: Chase rules
Whilst abiding by the rules, I'd rather flip and wreck an RB4 than chase the car for 5 hours using moderate and soft p.i.t. manoeuvres.

RE: Chase rules
In my opinion, I think the main goal to escape should be fast driving. I don't like this pushing and shoving into barriers and ending chases because the fun ends for the COP that way. Fun for all = safe fast driving.

RE: Chase rules
I don't see anything wrong with it. Suspect IRL isn't going to be looking for a pillow fight of a chase, and IRL the cop's job is to bust the suspect. Contact is, and should be, inevitable. Suspect should be aware that the cop can do these sort of maneuvers, and vice versa.
