New Keyboard - Recommendations?
Hey guys,
Since I've got a new computer, I feel the keyboard is the next thing which has to be replaced. That's why I was wondering if any of you have some recommendations in which one I should purchase? Friends mentioned me the Corsair K70 or the Corsair Gaming STRAFE RGB. They also mentioned Logitech, but perhaps you know any other good ones? In terms of keyboards I'm totally a newbie so that's why Thanks |

RE: New Keyboard - Recommendations?
K70 is a solid keyboard, if you're looking for binds you'll need to look at the K95. Its pricey but worth it for the build quality. I'm going to replace my steelseries apex with one of the K95s

RE: New Keyboard - Recommendations?
I've had both versions of the K95 and both are night and day differences.
The K95 (non rgb) I had worked fine, but the backlighting began to die slowly after a few months, random keys would stop lighting up. I later realised why, because the LED's are exposed to anything, they are susceptible to ESD and the right shock on them will destroy the LED. In the end I returned it, got a refund and swapped it for the RGB version (so I ended up paying roughly $60 for it). The K95 RGB fixed that issue by enclosing the LED inside the key mechanism, so there is no chance it can pick up any ESD. I've had this version for 6 months or so and haven't had any issues with it yet and has worked great. The non RGB version I bought with red switches, which I thought were a bit strange at first but I eventually got used to them. I was always missing some sort of feedback from keystrokes so when it came to getting the replacement, I got brown switches instead. Both are quite noisy, as people on TS may know already |

Uhm, fact is I do not want a very noisy keyboard, that's quite annoying. Is the K70 any silent or know any others?

RE: New Keyboard - Recommendations?
both the K70 and K95 are mechanical so they will both be a bit noisier than non-mechanical keyboards

RE: New Keyboard - Recommendations?
If you go cherry switches, avoid blue and razer green (they ripped off blues and coloured them green basically) at all costs. They are loud and clicky (I would say unbelievably annoying) but they are tactile switches. If you want quiet(er) cherry switches, go with browns. There's plenty of youtube videos with comparisons.
Mechanical keyboards can be quiet to use. When you're so used to rubber domes, you tend to mash the keys alot which is what makes them noisy to use.. Once you get used to the lighter force of the browns or reds, they become much quieter to use. I just mash the keys all the time for the hell of it though |

Thanks Indeed, watched a video where they explained how the switches work and the differences between them. Basing my thoughts on that video I would say that red switches are definitely not what i'm looking for. At the end I'm not looking for a keyboard for (gaming) itself, but also for typing and paperwork, so it has to be smooth and comfortable. I think that as you mention Brown switches would be the best. And to be honest, I never had such a complex keyboard, I've always had some basic things where you do not even have different switches so that's totally new for me. |

RE: New Keyboard - Recommendations?
I would recommend a Yamaha Tyros 5, the keys are semi weighted and feel good for a keyboard.

Frozen, you can get keyboards for computers if they have MIDI support.

RE: New Keyboard - Recommendations?
Get something with Cherry MX-browns in it. The g710+ is a good choice, but I'd personally go for something that feels more premium, such as a Corsair K95 or K75 (depending on how many macro's you need).

RE: New Keyboard - Recommendations?
Mmm, Looking at the store I'm planning to buy at, they have the G710+ listed however it does not say whether it has brown switches or not? Isn't it all brown?
It just says " Cherry MX-Technology " but not a specific color or anything. I dont really need Macro's at all as its not only gaming what i'm going to do with it (2016-04-24 21:18)Renegade Wrote: Get something with Cherry MX-browns in it. I was looking at the "Corsair Gaming STRAFE RGB Silent Mechanical Keyboard" , any thoughts? |
