RE: First Car
Well I don't see what's fun about Clio's or Saxo's, they are decent little cars - but as far as I know the insurance in Belgium isn't that bad when it comes to new drivers. At least not comparable to the UK.
All I am suggesting is to think out of the box, there is so much more to buy. http://www.autotrader.nl/auto/austin/nij...00/detail/ http://www.autotrader.nl/auto/alfa-romeo...so/detail/ http://www.autodealers.nl/Lancia/Kappa-2...tails.aspx >> http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=wk3cnjf1veyu |

RE: First Car
No, but seriously - why would you buy a Saxo if you could buy a Mercedes-Benz 190 Heckflosse, that is bloody awesome It's only done 90.000kms
Some interesting Oldtimers, from a Saab to an Alfa Romeo Spider. http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=wknypoqqm1ml http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=wkr3stkntwts http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=l4ghsob2e3kx http://www.autoscout24.nl/Details.aspx?id=mugfnrcyjvs1 |

RE: First Car
Yeah, it's good to think out the box and consider getting something a bit different. I like some of those ideas.

RE: First Car
But usually first car should use less fuel and have low insurance, like some old Saabs and Alfas have on finland.

The car will probably just stand there for a long time and will probably get a few problems that you would be too lazy to fix. Save all that money and buy something fancy instead in @ 2yrs |

(New suspension and some love to the old engine, mainly) But yeah, not too early unless you're gonna take it in as a project like I did. |

RE: First Car
I cant understand how some people are suggesting old timers, Porche's, BMW's and this kind of cars, to a person who is asking about a first and a cheap car ? I mean, everything that he will most probably get from this kind of cars for this kind of price, is troubles. Also, i would not want to look like some cheap ass wannabe, in a cheap ass 20 years old BMW, just becouse it's a BMW.
First of all, it would be good to hear the aproximate price. Also, do you want a petrol or a diesel car? If you are planning on driving on shorter distances (city driving), then i would certainly suggest petrol. However, if your school/job is 50 kilometers in one way everyday (most of the time on highways), then i would suggest the opposite. Do you like smaller or bigger cars? I know for myself, that i would not feel good in anything smaller than for example, VW Golf. However, you might be just the opposite though. For equipment, i would suggest going for something that has at least ABS, airbag(s), power steering and air conditioning. Any car above 2000 year model, should have most of those. If we are talking about prices from 1500 - 3000 Euros, you might want to check Alfa Romeos 147 or 156, Citroen Xsaras, Fiat Puntos, Ford Focuses, Nissan Almeras or Primeras, Peugeots 406, Renault Lagunas or Meganes and maybe even VW Golfs, if you manage to get a good one for that kind of a price - they are ussualy a bit more expensive here, where i live. If you want a youngest car for that kind of a price, you would probably want to go for Hyundai Accents or Elantras. Cars like Renault Clio or Citroen Saxo have already been mentioned in this thread, so i have not been repeating them. |

RE: First Car
Just FYI: ofcourse im going to buy it when i almost turn 18, i know that i dont have to buy it right now.. and citroën or peugeot will not be my car. My parents both have citroën and nothing but things that get damaged... and my school will be 10km away in the first year i buy it, but in the 2nd year ive got the car, im going to school 40 km away, mostly highway.
An e30 just looks amazingly nice to me, and roba, if it had not a good home, i wont buy it... i mean, every normal person goes to the owner to check it out.. right? A vw jetta(older one) has come to my mind too, but they are pretty expensive here. A week ago there was an e30 on internet, 100k km, very good first owner, had like 20pictures of it, and there was nothing to mention.. €2500. If i was 18, i'd go there and take a look! Anyway, ty for the replies |
