All Traffic lights change to flashing yellow when few people are connected
I suggested that all traffic lights at intersections change to flashing yellow when few people are connected. Like irl when they do that in cities at night. It feels very usless to stand and wait when noone actually is passing through. Most people probably just run the redlights when there is no traffic.

Not a bad suggestion, however in the UK we do not ever have this. Sometimes we have timing changes at peak/off peak times of the day however. Then again, the longest you'll wait at a traffic light in [TC] is really 15 seconds (with the exception of roadwork temporary lights where you can be waiting upto 30 seconds). |

Sounded easy in the beginning, but it can get quite complicated, especially as the roadwork signs use the same channels as the other traffic lights.

Just thought it would make it more realistic. And just copying the channel for traffic lights and have second one for roadworks shouldnt be that hard should it?

How about using the same strategy as for pedestrians, but for cars?
Spoiler (Click to View) Idea: Have the InSim check if there's traffic near the lights, if none, the command !lights will become accessible for civilians and will alter the regular cycle. NOTE: It is also possible to have InSim detect and show the GUI @!lights automatically by detecting positions. Demonstration: Just an idea. |

I like this idea Ad, but imo this is not something particularly needed. Indeed, I feel like waiting a bit at redlights ins't something really hard, as we mostly wait, as said above, something like 30 seconds.
Even though this is a good suggestion, I feel like there's some more important things to do before that. |

Let's be honest here.. when theres not a single cop in sight, or if no ones around.. do many people really obey red lights?

It should detect if theres a car at the light stop, just like we have it here in Qatar. When I stop on a red light it becomes green in like 3 seconds if there is no traffic at the intersection. I don't know if this could be implemented here in TC.

It would be cool if you could flash your lights at red lights, when no one else is near, and they turned green, like some traffic lights do in the UK in the early hours

That what happens in the UK at certain junctions. I imagine its possible to implement in the InSim as you could use the 'Checkpoints' within LFS to detect if vehicles are at a certain point in the road. |

Entire process could be automated ofcourse, but with the presence of such system, it is possible to enforce the lights even better, or it is possible to add "virtual camera"s. I think the only way that @ads method would be useful if there were auto fines for red light passing like in real life with speed cams by the traffic light and It would be more realistic to have the auto fines on.
