Don't Know The Problem
Okies so i tested my graphic card and thats not the problem coz it works.
So here is the story then hopefully u guys can give me your imput to try and figur out the problem of how much is gonna cost. So a little while ago i was watching something on youtube when my computer turned its self off, not like shutting down.. it just went off. So i turned it back on. and what was happening it would start to boot up like start for 3-5 seconds then it would turn its self off. So i left it for about 10 mins doing that.. then it would boot up 100% and stay on but there was nothing on the screen. when i say nothing i mean. " You know when u guys shut your computers down for the night, and your monitors go from a green light. to a amber light.. well thats what was happening with mine. So when i took out the graphic card and it booted up streight away.. thats why i thought it may i have been the graphic card.. but that dose not seem to be the problem. so could it the prosessor, or the motherboard.or maybe the hard drive i'm praying its not the motherboard.. so if u guys have had simalar experainces and u think u may not the problem.. please post and let me know.. cheers! |

RE: Don't Know The Problem
normally things like this happen when ur pc is over heating, mainly ur cpu, every cpu has a cut off point if it gets to hot it will just shut off instant, i would recommened removing the heatsink and fan from cpu and see if the thermal paste is paste or solid, if it is solid its gonna be taking little heat from cpu which will cause it to heat up over time and shut off instanly, plus if it was ur cpu dieing it wouldnt instantly shut off it would freez/studder all the time
edit: if it is solid the paste i would recommened getting it changed with some artic thermal paste from any pc shop for like 5 pound |

RE: Don't Know The Problem
When you removed the graphics card, what stage did it get to before you thought there might be another problem?

RE: Don't Know The Problem
How big is your powersupply? Maybe it hasn't got enough power to run the graphicscard.
What is your PC specs? (If you dunno, go to start, type in 'dxdiag' and press enter. Click Yes when promted. Copy the details from the open window, and press the tab called "Display(1)", and then copy that text as well, and paste it all here) |

RE: Don't Know The Problem
I was thinking PSU too, Maybe your PSU has died and it cant get enough power to run everything as well as GPU, hence why it turns on when you take it out, as it doesn't need to power it any more. Im no expert though...

RE: Don't Know The Problem
Atrix 800Watt Extreme Power <-- prime suspect. I've never heard of Atrix, they don't have a website, and the only list I've found with them in was a "Replace ASAP" list.
So, regardless of whether the PSU is the problem or not (certainly sounds like it is) you should replace it with a proper brand, high quality PSU. |

RE: Don't Know The Problem
My system runs a 500W PSU, Ive got FX-4100, 12gb DDR3, HD6850 1GB. 650 should be more than enough for your system.

RE: Don't Know The Problem
Cheap brand PSUs are pretty much always over-optimistic about how much power they can produce. The wattage stated on cheap ones is usually peak, rather than continuous - Quality PSUs quote continuous power.
I have a cheap EZ-Cool "650W" PSU that can provide less 12v power total than a single rail on my OCZ 550W PSU. The OCZ has three 12v rails capable of providing up to 480W total @ 12V. Your system would actually be just about OK with a 400W high quality brand PSU. For some safety headroom, aim for a 500-650W Antec, Corsair, Enermax or OCZ. Something like this: http://www.ebuyer.com/363095-ocz-500w-co...cxs500w-uk or this: http://www.ebuyer.com/264509-ocz-zs-seri...-zs550w-uk should be plenty. (I haven't shopped around to see if there's anything cheaper, but those are the type of specifications you're after) |

I can also recommend Silver Power, (Made by Seasonic which is very high quality) or Chill. Otherwise those Elmo meantioned are great as well. |
