RE: London 2012
Not sure on how much Britain has spent on the Olympics, but in my opinion that was a massive waste of taxpayers money. I'm British, but we're in a recession, and a bad one at that. We won't get half that money back...
It may have been a good idea maybe 5 or 10 years ago, but now... that'd be a joke. Good luck to everyone I guess |

Even though it wasn't a real one and wrong side, still looked offensive (if you know what I'm on about during the entrance of Germany)

RE: London 2012
I really wasnt expecting it, but we (Britain) have done quite well. I loved how it was all mixed with funny parts and some serious parts too (eg minute silence for 7/7 attacks). The actual industrial revolution part was absolutly brilliant. Sums up how Britain was formed perfectly.
A huge waste of money, but who knew 7 years ago that a recession was going to hit everyone so bad so cant blame anyone for that. Watched it from 7pm right up until it finished at 1. Enjoyed every minute of it. |

Plus, many of the previous Olympic games have actually resulted in a net profit for the domestic economy post-games. (Due to tourism, the legacy, and the massive investment in the local area). I did a paper on the Economic effects of the Olympics at University; It can bring benefits which you wouldn't necessarily expect. |
