Cop Insim
Recently you removed the feature of the nearest cop being able to see their suspect's location and distance.
I find this rather annoying, because if you are coming up to a busy junction, and you can not see them, you don't have a clue what turn off they made so we have no idea of where they have gone. Please look into putting the feature back. Regards, Plumb |

RE: Cop Insim
It's more realistic and generally better. Same with real life, if you're on a busy junction you can lose your suspect. Just stay sharp and keep your eye on them.

RE: Cop Insim
If anything, I think it makes it fairer for the suspect because a sneaky move at a busy junction should be rewarded.

RE: Cop Insim
Yeah, I don't see any problems with the updates. Realism ftw, actually asks for skills better.

RE: Cop Insim
IMO it's nice that you have to do some actual police work now (search for the suspect rather than driving to a location insim tells you)

RE: Cop Insim
Actually it doesn't make much sense. Why is the closest cop unable to see the location?
Assuming a real life situation as long as you are in visible distance you'd know the location because you'd have your assistant sat next to you yelling it down the radio to the other cops. I can understand the whole if no cop is within 250m nobody knows the location thing but the 'closest cop doesn't know the location' makes absolutely no sense aslong as he is with 250m I don't see any reason for him to not see the location? Put it another way, HOW CAN cop 2 3 4 know the location of the suspect if cop 1 does not? Cop 1 is the one telling them the location in the first place..? |

RE: Cop Insim
There is a story behind which may explain it. If you're the only cop, you're on your own. Full stop. Nobody is helping you IRL and nothing helps you in-game. Its up to you to keep your suspect in sight.
If there are other cops following the chase, the leading cop would tell via radio where the suspect is and lead other cops who may not be so close. Well, one could say they could do so via Teamspeak, but not everyone uses it. Therefore we 'simulate' this circumstance via Insim. We assume, if a cop is within 250m (number may change or be variable in future), he is able to tell others where the suspect is, hence the location-bar appears to backup-cops. |

Except there are actually quite a lot of one person crews these days, so that doesn't exactly hold true. Also, there's no guarantee that the passenger can see any better than the driver. The closest cop *does* know the location, because he can *see* the suspect. If he can't see the suspect, he shouldn't have the magic InSim tracker tell him where the suspect is. (2012-10-27 18:08)Tommer Wrote: Put it another way, HOW CAN cop 2 3 4 know the location of the suspect if cop 1 does not? Cop 1 is the one telling them the location in the first place..? If the lead cop can't see the suspect because he's too far away, he can't tell the other cops where to go, which is why the location is then not shown to the other cops either. An alternative option is for all cops who are within the 250m to be denied the location. In some circumstances (the lead cop actually loses visual), this makes a little more sense, in others it makes less sense (the lead cop can see the suspect, so would be talking on the radio even to the close by cops who might not be able to see the suspect). This isn't a perfect system. Unfortunately, a perfect system is impossible because we have no way of knowing if the lead cop can actually see the suspect or not. Distance is a good way of making a best guess. We may well be able to refine the system more in future, but this is a much more realistic, less cheaty solution than the previous one. |

RE: Cop Insim
Seems fair and worked well today, although really hiding from a minimum of 2 cops will still not be possible for said reasons. I can not see a way that insim can determine wether a suspect will be hidden from view or visible, for me it is an excellent compromise.
