nite/snow mods

this is to evryone and for the tc admins to consider looking into about getting the nite / snow mobs for the maps here are some links as it would be allsome for the uk server time on the insim server time to nite and day and over xmas and that snow mod so the lites come usefull as i think it would be a good idear for thease mods on for vote on tc homepage http://lfsdb.500servers.net/fileinfo.php?id=22

These are local .DDS files. You can use them as far as i know with no problem on TC.

yeah we tryed it on ltc server for a laugh and yeat its real and works really good at nite

IMO, if you want these mods, just download them yourself rather than force every other player to download them. There's no point installing them on the server when people who want them can download them themselves. Unless there's some way to install them without a player having to edit his client, I don't see this as a server-wide mod.

Also, you can't have two mods at the same time. All three mods you have put there are made from textures so for example, you want Snow Mod and Night Mod at the same time, you can either darken Snow Mod's textures or leave it as you can't have two textures at the same time without overwriting one set.

i know but evry just changeing it in the insim to nite and day would be allsome for many players

I believe the night mod does reduce visibility. Sounds like a great idea considering the amount of accidents we have on the server already...not

test it on server two and cee how many players go onto there with the nite mod and keep server one on day for a test werth a try cant hurt no one then for a week on server 2 for test ???

I'm not sure if .DDS files can be loaded on the server etc, I'm pretty sure they are just local files (i.e only you can see them).

Of course it does, cause you have them downloaded on your computer.
In order to change your game appearance client-side, with changed dds files, you need to download them and put them in the right folder manually.

Afaik the insim can't do that for you. And I doubt TC would ever force textures on people. They won't be able to enforce it anyway.
Also, before the changes take effect you need to restart your LFS.

So no, Chad, this won't work.

To tie all the strings together:
-You may use any DDS mods locally
-Those mods do only work on the PC they were installed onto
-Installing and/or distributing them automatically via the server on the clients is technically not possible
