Pitspeeding & Free Pit
Hello, I would like to tell you my ideas about getting a bit of cash out
of the system and beside this people will take more care on driving. So, first idea is to fine pitspeeding with 100€ and make your trip lost. I think it may stop most people from speeding in pits just for fun. Second is to change the free pit to a bonus pit and charge it with 100€ as well. This should get people to do regular pitstops instead of just using shift+p all time, even I do this most times right now. Another thing is the bonus ending at 1000km. Would be nice if it would run up to 10000km or at least not stop at 1000km but stay last level. Thanks for reading, would be nice if TC staff at least thinks about this. Have fun and enjoy LFS, greets P V L |

RE: Pitspeeding & Free Pit
Both ideas have been suggested in the past and both were dismissed due to the following reasons:
Fining for speeding in the pitlane - 9 times out of 10 people speed in the pitlane by accident, they know they'll get spectated if they speed which is annoying enough as it is. - Since there is a chance you might lose your entire trip by speeding in the pitlane, losing cash as well is just going to be annoying. Remove "free pit" and charge €100 - We introduced the 5 minute cool down to dissuade people from using shift+p and ignoring this costs €500. This generally means that people have to be careful when leaving the pits else they know they have to wait 5 minutes before they can shift+p. If people survive the first 5 minutes without ruining their car, it's likely they'll last for at least a little while. - We feel that the system we have in place already is a better compromise than fining for pitting even if someone's lasted 3 hours without needing it, then ends up out of bounds somewhere, unable to move. They then have no choice but to pit and lose money and their large trip. It's unnecessary since they already lost the thing they'd been working on for that time. I hope this is an adequate response as to why we're unlikely to implement any such changes in the foreseeable future. |

RE: Pitspeeding & Free Pit
Not with the idea, I know I'm a person who always speed in the pit lane by accident.

RE: Pitspeeding & Free Pit
Instead of fining the speeding in pits, you should fine the wrong way driving INTO pits. Speeding can be solved with adding more objects. People who are too lazy to drive around to turn in the right direction, just go full throttle the wrong way and get spectated before they reach the pits. If someone is driving out he CAN be and WILL be hit now or later because of those people, which is resulting in a big crash where both drivers probally get spectated for going the wrong way. This is not how people may abuse the insim if you ask me, this is wrong and should be fined.
About the Shift + P, the 5 minutes cooldown is working for 50% if you ask me. It works on the track, but doesn't work in the actual safe zones. When people drive into a safe zone, they use Shift + P and get back on the track instead of making an actual pitstop. So the fining system on using Shift + P isn't a very bad idea, it should make people more consequent in their choices like "What car am I taking?" or "What setup do I use?". Today you don't have to think about it, you can go to every safe zone and just use Shift + P all the time because the cooldown timer doesn't work in safe zones. This is an potential idea if you ask me, how do you think about this perspective? |

RE: Pitspeeding & Free Pit
In terms of speeding in the pit lane, correct me if I'm wrong, there aren't any problems with the current system? I.e. I mean, there aren't people who aren't doing it on purpose and as such, we're trying to break down on this so people don't do it...

We can kind of do that now - If we put a one-way checker to prevent people entering the pits the wrong way, they will lose their trip. We've already done this in a few places. However, I'm really not a fan of fining for shift+p in the pits. Restricting setup/car choice will likely hinder rather than help: - can't test setups online - oops, LFS loaded the wrong set (yes, this is a bug) - can't change car to help tow someone - can't join a chase against at much faster car - can't change skin etc. etc. Tbh, that would just add restrictions for no real improvement. |

Nothing to add actually.
As for the wrong-way-entering: I might think about fining those who constantly ignore the direction and use the wrong-way-spec as a free-pit alternative. |

Maybe you guys should add a fine on this function like Chuck said to make people stop using this as a free pit alternative. |
