I've seen quite a few cars speeding down all over that grass, it's still quite dangerous.

And if I'm thinking of the same part on Westhill that you are, that gap is pretty close to the SZ that you can easily U-Turn at safely, whereas the Blackwood railing continues up a fairly long part of road before allowing an easy U-Turn location.

And regarding your edit:
I can see where you're coming from, but I honestly think it wouldn't be that much worse than it already is.
Is there that much difference between the HW at Westhill in comparison to Blackwood?
Would you remove the 2-wide gaps at Westhill, if you were given the option to do so?
