I appreciate you holding off on the report and trying to talk to the user before resorting to the forums, I hope more people follow after your ways. :]

As to the report, I don't think that sort of maneuver is appropriate, due to it not really pertaining to rule 3.10, and as such I feel a confirm-able warning is suitable in this situation.
