On the Fine List, there is an exemption for "Failure to keep to the correct side (50€ / 75€ / 100€)". It states the following:

Quote:Exemption(s): This fine does not include overtaking (within reason) or wrong-siding to avoid a crash.

You should not have been fined for wrong siding in this scenario, and Emre will be asked to refund you the fine in full (50 €).
