I really like the idea, let's put those MOT stations to use! I put forth a couple feature suggestions:
Wait times: A method which determines how long repair is going to take, weighed against the cond. % and the value of the car. It should be on the order of at least a few minutes, perhaps up to an hour if the cond % is really low and it's an expensive car (lambo?) (maybe you will want to drop the car off ) Players should have a choice if they wish to repair the car to wait with it, then drive it away after reconditioning OR to drop off the car and get it back when the repair station is done. Repair station will send a colored message to you about it, and remind you on a regular basis until you pick up the car. Differences being: - If you wait with it -> takes less time to get back on the road with that particular car, and it will cost a little less, say for example 10% discount. IF the player goes spec or D/C during repair, the repair is CANCELLED and the player is charged a cancellation fee. The catch is you MUST sit there in the repair station. If you spec or go pit, the repair is cancelled. - If you drop it off -> takes longer for the repair station to get to the car. Other players drop their cars off too, the shop is busy. Repair costs: I believe I'm on the same page as OP, but would like to ensure that pricing on repair depends on the overall value of the car. For example, repairing an XFG from 5% cond. should cost a lot less than it takes to repair Veyron at 5%. There may possibly be a cost benefit for players if they re-condition more regularly. Vehicle value: Reconditioning should also recondition vehicle's value, to some upper limit. It should never be valued as it was when it was new, and if possible, the maximum value should go down over time - to some lower limit - because a car with a million KM just wouldn't be worth the same as one with 100,000km. ROLE-PLAY: Perhaps...you can have a [MECH] role that can simply hang-out at a repair station, and their purpose is to speed up repairing. Their job is a little monotonous but an important one - they will need to stay within a certain radius of the repair station. This role might not get used all the time, but you could co-ordinate with others to make a repair happen faster. The MECH gets some small % stipend of the repair bill. The MECH should help cut repair time by maybe 25%. MECHs bonus can be multiplied with multiple MECHs, and any MECH on duty at a repair station helps ALL cars undergoing repair. It's not much but it's honest work :') Cool idea |
