Cops losing contact
Hi,
was there also something changed regarding cops losing contact, not only the new join mode? I noticed it in a very long chase on sydney today that COP Angel could actually be wherever he wanted and it was almost impossible to lose contact. While I was on the middle of the highway 1, he was in the middle of High street - several times I noticed that. Also it seems like cops don't lose contact when suspect is on the freeway and cop on the high street. I was kinda not sure what I should do to get rid of him... lol Examples: |

RE: Cops losing contact
I have also noticed that, you can go HW2 and the cop will go main street without losing contact and catch up at the junction. You can't escape them from the sprint track either since they can just turn around and still won't lose contact.

RE: Cops losing contact
I noticed it yesterday too. I was chasing someone I went completely the wrong way and still remained in contact.
I think there's a bug in the new chase path system. |

RE: Cops losing contact
i actually dont think its buggy. its just a small map and it happens mostly with fast cars/drivers.
u still need 500 meter for 10 seconds iirc. at last example u would simply have to stop/turn and the seconds continue counting->lost contact. heading to roundabout u just go below 500m too quick. might be wrong tho, just a first thought |

Bez Wrote:I noticed it yesterday too. Yeah I noticed that as well. There's definitely a bug as previously you would've lost the chase for sure if you were driving High Street while your suspect was going on Bridge Freeway. |

RE: Cops losing contact
If I remember correctly, things were going to be slightly different on each track with the way it works. Not sharing the information, but I know the current system was optimized for West Hill so expect it to be buggy on the other tracks until something gets sorted.

RE: Cops losing contact
The new system is partially a step back for "older" tracks since it simply didnt work on such a wide map as Weston. I'm trying to fix that, but its not really simple.

Chuck Wrote:Details: Cops in chase must be within a 40m wide x 10 second long trace behind the suspect OR within a 50m radius to the suspect to be considered "in contact". i understand that it might take some time, but that is faaar to low. thats one single u turn by the suspect and lost. just witnessed two examples right after the update. ___________________________ €: hmm nvm, must have been some weird circumstances, cuz at other occasion it seemed to work. |

RE: Cops losing contact
Honestly I used this many times to stay in contact and to meet the suspect at a different location so I could roadblock or slow him down. It has been like this for quite a long time.
I liked it, and it adds some risk taking by cops as well as an opportunity for some nice cooperation between them. |

This is how it works now.

RE: Cops losing contact
Well, here is a bug.
I was just in a chase and the suspect hit someone on the wrong side. He was sent flying OOB and I was the only one that was obviously too far. It started counting down from 10 seconds, I lost contact then the suspect was auto busted. The suspect was [WCL] K.Botos. The blue circle is the suspect after he was hit OOB, the red circle is myself. |

RE: Cops losing contact
im aware this may only be a temporary solution. but just for the record or this to be considered while solving this:
the current system is kind of suited when following a suspect, but its not really working when a cop passes the suspect. then the cop is almost immediately out of the 50m radius. for example when the suspect turns when not in sight. on SO for example simply turning into the pitlane. cop can be right next to him on hw and looses if i witnessed that correct. also the current systen benefits u-turners way too much. and they are really dangerous for the whole chase and civilians, so we dont really wanna support them even more. going down bridge freeway with 200kph, quick uturn at the narrow part, chase almost won. so if this might stay a while i'd suggest to slightly adjust the variables maybe to like 50m wide, 75 or even 100m radius, and/or something like 12 -13 seconds. just some quick random thoughts. |

RE: Cops losing contact
What was the problem
with the old system? In my over 2k chases I think it was quite fair, now with some kind of information when 10 secs start to run it might be even perfect IMO. |

RE: Cops losing contact
Yes that. As I said in the changelog, we need to collect experiences. Ideally from both sides, cops and robbers. The particular track certainly makes a difference as well.
