RE: engine change
Not really the place to ask this, you would be better on a escort/ford forum
I have seen YB engines in them from the sierra/ escort cosworth, really you would want to be taking the drive train also from the cossie. Perhaps a rs2000 2.0 engine non turbo though. Things to consider. Is it really worth it ? Fueling ? Management? Mounts? Drive Train? Gearbox mounts? Wiring? Ideally you need to plan this in detail, obtain all the parts then do it. Consideration of movement of ancillaries must be considered. |

RE: Engine change
Which model years are you looking for? You know that the Escort van was produced since the Mk1.
Anyway, I'm ASSUMING you mean something like the Mk5 or Mk6 Escorts which already came with Zetec-engines from the factory. You're best off putting a 1.8 or preferably a 2.0 Zetec in a van and turbocharge that if necessary. You could also put a Ford DOHC engine in it from a Sierra or something but I'd say the Zetec is a better way to go in this day and age. If you are going for an older van, you could also consider turbocharging an existing CVH engine or even a Crossflow if you get an Mk2 or something In any case you can get pretty much everything from Burton Power. Still, a turbo swap will never be cheap or easy. http://www.burtonpower.com/ |
