MED/RES hazardous driving
Hey,
So I made this thread, because I couldn't find (at least a very recent) thread about this topic. I'll start this by asking why were MED/RES vehicles made unable to be chased while responding to a call? I find this personally very irritating, as for my very few recent visits to the server, I've seen a MED vehicle doing a dangerous u-turn/maneuver at the Kyoto AB roundabout, and finding myself (COP) unable to chase and fine them, without following them to the scene and waiting for it to end (which feels like a huge waste of time). I'd suggest to revert it as it was - COPs are always able to chase MEDs, but the rules and laws would say that you can only chase and fine a MED/RES vehicle for dangerous/careless driving (as in, doing illegal turns, driving wrong way, dangerous overtakes etc.) only. |

RE: MED/RES hazardous driving
Keep in mind this server rule:
SERVER RULES Wrote:11.5. Responding to a SOS-call You are probably aware of it, but unfortunately that's probably not the case for every cop. After a bit of consideration, I think the problem with allowing them to be chased at any time is that cops will just pull them over every time they break a road law (even if e.g. lasers are void against [MED]/[RES] who are responding). This may include road laws they would be entitled to break in some cases. This is potentially problematic. If someone breaks the aforementioned server rule, hopefully someone (anyone - whether that's a player or an admin) would guide them into the right direction. If despite warnings, they continue to break the rule, they can be reported so an admin can assess it instead. This might lead to their license being revoked. IMO it works OK as it is. Let's await other people's opinions though. |

RE: MED/RES hazardous driving
Yeah, I just see it as waste of time (mostly because at the moment every minute of my time counts) and effort, to A) Wait for the rescue to be finished B) Fill in a forum report.. So I would reckon 90% of the not-so-major incidents to be left without any consequences, because people just won't bother.
Of course I do mention about it to them, but I'm not going to follow them or spec them to see if they repeat it.. Best case is that there's 3 different people in 3 different occasions telling the same person they are doing something wrong, which they just ignore completely or always answer "ok". I understand that they will often get pulled over, but I don't see it as a harm. The MED/RES may be able to tell the cop that they are pulling them over for no good reason and A) the cop let's them away or B) the MED/RES will fill a report/refund request for wrong fine. And yes I do know the server rule about it, but what I mean is exactly what's mentioned in it, that they often do drive rather recklessly and carelessly, endangering other traffic because they have blue lights. |
