GTX 980 or GTX 970

Hello,

wondering what GPU you guys think I should get, my two main choices are the 980 or the 970. The 980 is £105 more, do you think it is worth it? Will be using it for playing things like GTA V, Assetto Corsa, Fallout 4 ect ect in 1080P (Not 4k).


The rest of my PC is:
Intel Core i5 4690K Haswell Processor Overclocked to up to 4.2GHz
Asus Z97-K Motherboard
8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400MHz DDR3 Memory (2 x 4GB sticks)
750W PSU

I have a 980 gtx it's worth it over the 970 if you can get it cheap enough mine was 210 used but that's the ftw evga one

Thanks for the replies everyone, I think I'll go with the GTX 980, picks up almost 10-15fps over the 970 on some games.

Think I'm going to go with the Gigabyte GTX 980 Windforce at £369.99, seem like a fair price?

You might want some more ram too while you're at it, running gta I regularly see 11+gb usage.

I didn't even think of that... thanks! I should have 4 ram slots right? so if I buy another 4GBx2 of the same it will bring me up to 16gb and that should be okay?

I went with the GTX 980 , should be here tomorrow... but I am unsure if the cables I ordered will be despite paying extra for them to be here by tomorrow.

It came today and I've already installed it, so pleased with it, playing Dirt on Ultra with no problems. On Assetto Corsa I started it up with the settings I normally run and it was at 400+ FPS, pretty much maxed it out now apart from post processing now (I don't like the filters) and it was only using 19% of my CPU. Means I can finally join in on those 30+ people track days at the ring Defiantly worth the money.

Only thing is that the fans do make some buzzing noise (Guessing its normal and especially cause of the extra fans on the Windforce edition.)
