Fixed it to a drivable state.

I still need to sort out 7 OBD2 Fault codes, get an alignment, change the right front shock absorber top, find the cause of clonking when turning left when the car is in neutral or clutch down.

But yeah, its fixed to a drivable state atm, which im happy of, i just need to sort out the clonking noise next cause its the biggest problem after the inner part of the driveshaft.

Nah, we changed all our cars to diesel engined ones due to us getting so much kms in a month that its cheaper to use a Diesel car even though theres the taxes and all.

It's for the heater controls. As you twist the knob the cables in the tunnel move and mechanically open the flaps on the exhaust manifold shrouds to allow heat to enter the cabin!

That makes sense, I was thinking it could've been some sort of aftermarket adjuster valve for the brakes or something. I guess since yours was only just rebuilt that it works fine, I've seen a couple of VW's which can't even keep the windshield defogged, let alone prevent the passengers from dying from hypothermia.

The first gen rabbit/golf/gti/jetta/cabrio have the most flawed system when you bought an ac equipped car. The outer and inner vents aren't connected. The inner only blow ac the outer only blow fresh/heated air.

This evening we had a cool little wash&wax session on Roba's Subaru. Turned out pretty good, a lot of bugs and dirt came off the car too. Also replaced a broken gauge cluster bulb while at it.
