Cops using force on people interfering with chases
Hello everyone, Today I want to suggest something that I think will be necessary and helpful for cops.
Often times when we are in a pursuit many people have complete disregard of the siren and tend to get too close, overtake or even interfere with the pursuit. So there's no end to it except if an admin is witnessing the chase and removes this player, or report him after he wrecks your chase. I want to stop that the second it happens. I want to suggest that cops shall be given the ability to be able to use force against those who interfere/overtake/get close to pursuits. This does not mean ram them. This means to perform a light P.I.T, box or even a slight push to get them off your way. It doesn't do too much damage on you or the intruder. To summarize this; Give cops the LEGAL ability to use force on people who disregard police sirens and are being involved(interfering/overtaking) in the pursuit. Please take this into consideration. Disregard and disrespect is getting out of hand. KooKoo |

I don't really like this idea, if there's someone too close you could either send a bind with !l asking them to stay back on a hotkey or report them to an admin after the chase if they didn't leave the chase alone. Also, if anything goes wrong using force, you could end up wrecking your own police car. -1 |

RE: Force
Well normally in chases if someone is interfering and just completely blocking my chase I'll give them plenty of time to move and if I'm at risk of losing the suspect I just guide them out the way with my car, PITs are probably alright too as long as it's safe and does the job. At the end of the day, people blocking chases are ruining the fun but having a "rule" that cops can do that will only mean they'll take advantage of it.
There have been a few topics in the past, some admins don't mind if you guide them out of your way because they're breaking server rules anyway. I don't agree COPs should be given the right to do it immediately. As you said: kookoo Wrote:I want to stop that the second it happens. That will get abused so easily. |

RE: Force
I've guided cars out of the way numerous times. Including cars who didn't respond to !move. A gentle PIT or push does the job, and no one is harmed in the process.
I agree with what Nismo said. |

RE: Force
Wouldn't mind cops being "legally" protected by this, but i've never come across anyone being punished by a TC for doing it, if someone is breaking server rules, and have complete disregard of you and your chase, i wouldn't and dont hesitate a second to move them out of the way. Ofc i do this with as much care as i can, but im not going to loose a chase due to ignorance of some people..
So for me it's kind of a +1 But on the other hand, like Nismo said it will be abused with people pitting anyone happen to be close to them and then referring to this rule. |

RE: Force
Nismo is pretty much right here.
I'm not a fan of the idea as it could cause a lot of unnecessary reports from the players it would affect if the cops start abusing the ability to just force people out the way immediately. |

RE: Force
Well not immediately, but if the intruder fails to move or comply, then we LIGHTLY move the suspect away.

RE: Force
The way i see it is if they don't see sirens then i shouldn't see them..... but i have to comply to the rules.
What i mean by this is that i don't PIT them or anything but if they don't move then i shouldn't move either so they could get punted off if they aren't careful. I give a +1 but it would have to have some rules behind it like don't do it in dangerous places or when it isn't needed i.e. If i went into them but they left a gap big enough for a car and a bit extra. |

RE: Force
personaly i sometimes remove these guys by slowing them down to keep them far from the chase (if i am COP4 and for example on AB), but not immediately. I always wait what they are going to do.
Also if you smash out someone immediately it will only result in revenge crashing, reporting, etc. |

RE: Force
I know what you mean Jacob. Smashing is completely out.
Guys what I mean is to use very LIGHT force. Small PIT to let them spin out of the way(not hard one) or a slight push. |

RE: Using force on people interfering with chases
I've made the title more specific. It's a forum rule we all need to follow to make threads easier to identify and find.
If someone is genuinely impeding your chase, I don't see a problem in guiding them away as long as it is A. safe, B. last resort, C. genuinely necessary. I've done it myself. A special rule for it is only going to end in tears. My opinion is the same for both cops and suspects using the force. |

Yes , but that idea should work in both ways. [ chase is a chase ]

RE: Cops using force on people interfering with chases
I never really been shy to push people who don't respect out sirens of my way. A gentle push won't hurt rulebreakers right?

You say you're ok with it, many others are as well, but not all admins may share that view and may issue inconsistent or random looking punishments. Unwritten rules do also have the problem of fading away as they only exist the the current members's heads. After 3 years of recruitment, where do you expect that unwritten rule to be? |

RE: Cops using force on people interfering with chases
It would have to be worded very accurately yet succinctly in a way that cops don't see it as an invitation/obligation to whack people out of the way at every given opportunity, then misinterpreting the rules by saying "I'm allowed to do it".
With it being unwritten, it's more a case of common sense and decency. I highly doubt any admin would take action if the force was light, safe, needed, last resort etc. Since the person interfering is likely a noob or generally clueless of their surroundings, I doubt they'd have a big issue with being guided out of the way either. |

RE: Cops using force on people interfering with chases
If anything, the admin would and should deal with the player interfering, not the cop moving him out the way. Common sense indeed.
