Server resets

I have heard of this server being reset so that everyone can start from scratch again. When this happens, what is NOT reset? And how often does this happen?

The previous reset was on the first of January in 2012.

If I don't remember wrong, it was caused by an InSim upgrade.

The reason we used to need to reset peoples money and cars was because once people owned all cars, they would never need to buy anything ever again. The last time we reset was in 2012 when we launched the new VIN system whereby you now have to buy cars, keep them serviced and buy new ones when they die.

About a year ago we halved the lifespan of all cars in order to further increase the amount of money people are spending on cars. This system has meant that far fewer people have millions of euros because eventually peoples cars die and they need to replace them.

We're not ruling out the possibility of there never being a reset because admittedly there is still not a lot to spend your insim cash on and some people do have a lot of 'savings' but the new system has definitely delayed the need for one. In the past we would reset once a year or so. We haven't needed a reset in 4 years so the new system clearly works, for now.
